Drive shaft have only one seal and seal rear side on metal bush 1 jak up littil gear box because after shaft remov ing time oil no feldown 2 remove drive shaft rear bolt 3 mesher drive shaft seal touching area 4 mesher drive shaft Bush touching area this area damage want send machine Shoppe bush cover and drive shaft that time send seal also Damege change that Bush also
one of two reasons: 1- the part of the shaft which comes in contact with the lip of the seal has a groove in it 2- there is a brass bushing behind the seal in the tail of the trans which is meant to hold the shaft steady; if it is worn, then the shaft is moving out of range of the seals' ability to remain in contact with it.
no there isn't but ck to make sure that there isn't any up and down play by pushing on the shaft at the rear of the trans if there is it could have a bushing worn out.
I am guessing the fluid is transmission fluid, the ratteling could be from the drive plate on the torque convertor, the vibration is damaging the front transmission seal, hence the leak. Trans has to be pulled, $4 seal replaced and possible the drive plate replaced from loose bolt damage, plate is about $40 to $80, about 5 hours labour, Hope this helps, Good luck
yes , depending on wheter you talking about torque converter seal or rear engine main seal , on trans if your front pump bushing has excessive wear then it will not seal because the torque converter input shaft will ride on seal more than it is supposed to and also it will not run true, also check TC mounting of flex plate if you flex plate is not centered then it will rotate out of balance and cause leaks and pump damage, if you talking about a rear main engine seal you may have a issue with run out and or bearing wear issues cause seal to not be able to do its job, check all those issues, crank shaft end play as well as up and down play and check rotational run out on TC of trans and pump bushing in trans pump... hope this helps, thanks please rate...
You have to remove the transmission, remove the torque converter to access the seal. Most likely the bushing behind the seal is worn out allowing fluid to leak past the seal. After the trans. is out, take it to a trans. shop. It requires a special tool to change the bushing. Seems like a bunch of work for $10.00 in parts. The rear main seal requires pulling the pan to access it. When the trans. is out, this is the time to replace the rear main seal on the engine.
