no country stated,
there are no stock uSA 91s with any form of carb.
my guess? wild, with no eye on and no photos
is its a TBI car, throttle body injection system. EFI.
i have one too. a USA 91 tracker. 2door 5speed.
the engine if still stock, is TBI
and will back fire , 99% of the time
when the 60k mile service was skipped, you did, right?
the 60k has a full egnition tune up, and new timing belt
the belt now is slipped,
this does 3 things (at least)
1: low compression not 150PSI WOT but 100 now.
2:cam timing is now way off causing #1 ,
3: Dizzy timing is way off now, a 1 minute test with the strobe light.
and bingo, gee i never to tuneup and the belt is gone.
http://www.fixkick.com/specs/scheduleBw.jpgskipping this 60k dooms all trackers to this fate. all.
if all that is good,
backfiring can happen , just with a lean mixture.
but the Tracker , just bogs with lean, it is , its nature.
back firing to me , is up , passing thru the TBI to the air cleaner
not
out the end of tail pipe
or pure muffler explosions, (NSA will read this line)
the FINDER is here. (whos on first? whats my engine)
