2008 cadillac cts awd sunroof & shade will not open.

Is there anything else to check before changing the motors ? Yeah , hook up a factory or some other type of professional scanner an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes, also to see if the scanner will communicate with the modules. Changing batterys without a alternate power supply can cause modules to go to sleep permanently.

Battery Disconnect Problems (aa1car.com)

Power Sunroof System Components
The Power Sunroof and Sunshade System consists of the following components:
• Sunroof control module
• Sunshade control module
• Sunroof switch
• Sunshade switch
• Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof and sunshade glass rides
• S/ROOF/SUNSHADE Fuse 30 A
• Body control module (BCM)

Don't be a parts changer, learn how to diagnose! So before you go wasting your money on parts not needed see if a professional scanner can communicate with all the modules on the vehicle.

The Power Sunroof System will operate only with the ignition turned to the RUN or Accessory positions, this allows for retained accessory power (RAP) control of the sunroof and sunshade through the body control module (BCM). With the ignition in the run or accessory positions, the BCM supplies the sunroof and sunshade control modules with ignition voltage which allows sunroof and sunshade operation. Once the ignition switch is turned to OFF the sunroof will continue to operate until any door is opened or when the RAP timer reaches its shut-off limit. For a description and operation of the RAP operation, refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Description and Operation.

Circuit/System Description
The sunroof and sunroof shade modules supply each of the switch signal circuits with a 12-volt reference. When a switch is pressed the signal circuit is pulled low signaling the sunroof or sunroof shade open or close request. The modules determine the motor direction based on inputs received from the sunroof switches. When the modules reverse the polarity of the applied voltage, the motors reverse direction. The sunroof shade module contains the logic for opening and closing the sunshade based on Serial Data from the sunroof control module. Ignition voltage is supplied to the sunroof and sunroof shade modules by the BCM. B+ is applied to the sunroof and sunroof shade modules via the S/ROOF fuse.
The sunroof shade module contains the logic for opening and closing the sunshade based on Serial Data from the sunroof control module. The sunroof shade module internally applies voltage and ground to the appropriate circuits of the reversible sunshade motor in order to move the sunshade panel to the open or closed positions.

Vauxhall Astra Twintop 2 door 2011 model. The sunroof won't open instead keeps beeping every time I try to open it. Can someone please help?

There could be a few reasons why your sunroof on your 2011 Vauxhall Astra Twintop 2 door is not opening and instead beeping when you try to open it. Some possible causes include:
  • The sunroof switch or control module may be faulty and not sending the correct signal to open the sunroof.
  • The sunroof motor may be malfunctioning and unable to open the sunroof.
  • The sunroof track or guide may be obstructed, preventing the sunroof from opening.
  • The sunroof may be locked in a closed position and unable to open.
To fix the issue with your sunroof, I recommend having a professional mechanic check your vehicle to determine the cause of the problem and make any necessary repairs.
Regarding the blind, I would recommend looking at the vehicle's manual.

Wifes sunroof is open and will not close. Checked fuse it has pwr, removed switch it does not have power ... a ground problem at the sunroof motor...where is that?

First off this is controlled by a module (computer) The switch would only have five volts . 5volt reference voltage from the control module . Not knowing how to test the electrical circuit's for this could be expensive . Short out the module or 5 volt ref. voltage circuit inside the module.
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Look at a wiring diagram here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on body & accessories ,then under subsystem click sun roof . Then click search button then the blue link . Now tell me you under stand what's happening here .

Power Sunroof System Components
The power sunroof system consists of the following components:
• Sunroof control module
• Sunroof Opening Position Switch (SOPS)
• Sunroof switch
• Sunroof motor/actuator
• Sunroof glass (spoiler type, with glass sliding above roof)
• Sunshade
• Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof glass rides
• Power supply for the sunroof control module: SUNROOF 20 A fuse
• Ground from G302

Sunroof Opening Position Switch (SOPS)
The SOPS tracks the position of the glass through 2 limit switches:
• Soft stop limit
• Vent limit
The sunroof control module monitors the limit switches and based on the inputs determines the position of the sunroof glass. As a limit switch closes, the 5 volt reference will be shorted to the sunroof limit switch low reference circuit, pulling down the 5 volt reference to 0 volts.
The sunroof control module understands the position of the sunroof glass based on the different input combinations through the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal and sunroof limit switch open vent signal circuits.

Power Sunroof Does Not Close
Perform the Initialization/Teach Process any time a new sunroof motor actuator is installed in the vehicle or any time an existing sunroof motor actuator is removed from the vehicle. Refer to Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process .

I have a 04 Pontiac G6 4 door sedan the sun shade opens up no problem but when I try to open the glass the first one lifts up but that's it the other 3 pieces dont

Power Sunroof System Components
The power sunroof system consists of the following components:
• One tilting glass sunroof panel--For sunroof vent functions
• Three sliding glass sunroof panels, which allow the sunroof to open in sections
• Power sunshade panel--An adaptable panel which is rolled out or rolled in and stored by the sunshade motor/actuator in order to cover or uncover the sunroof glass panels
• Power sunroof switch--A rotary style switch controlling sunroof switch signal inputs to the sunroof motor/actuator
• Power sunshade switch--A momentary press style switch controlling sunshade switch signal inputs to the sunshade motor/actuator
• Power sunroof motor/actuator--Comprised of both the sunroof motor/actuator and the sunroof electronic control module, it is sometimes referred to as the sunroof control module/motor assembly.
• Power sunshade motor/actuator--Comprised of both the sunshade motor/actuator and the sunshade electronic control module, it is sometimes referred to as the sunroof slave module.
Sunroof Motor/Actuator and Sunroof Switch
The sunroof motor/actuator assembly is located at the rear of the passenger compartment, above the rear view window, between the headliner and the roof structure. The sunroof motor/actuator assembly also contains the sunroof electronic control module and the two components are serviced together as a unit.
Battery positive voltage is supplied to the motor/actuator at all times through the 25-amp LAMELLA ROOF fuse located in the rear fuse block. Whenever the ignition is turned to RUN or ACCESSORY, or when the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active, the motor/actuator is also supplied battery positive voltage through the accessory voltage circuit and the 10-amp ROOF/HEAT SEAT fuse which is located in the body control module (BCM). The sunroof motor/actuator is grounded through splice S403 to body ground G302.
The sunroof motor/actuator supplies voltage to the sunroof switch through three internal resistors and three hard wire circuits. The 3 hard wire circuits are:
• Sunroof switch data 1 signal circuit
• Sunroof switch data 2 signal circuit
• Sunroof switch data 3 signal circuit
The sunroof switch, which is also grounded to G302, is a rotary style switch. When the switch control lever is turned in a rotational direction, the appropriate switch contacts and signal circuits for the selected mode are simultaneously opened and/or closed to ground in order to provide the appropriate combination of voltage signals to the sunroof motor/actuator. The sunroof motor/actuator interprets the signals, and then applies battery positive voltage and ground to the appropriate circuits of the integral power sunroof motor in order to move the sunroof glass panels. At the same time, the sunroof motor/actuator sends a serial data message, via the keyword 2000 serial data circuit, to the sunshade motor/actuator to open the sunshade panel in conjunction with the sunroof glass. As the sunroof glass panels slide rearward to the open position, the sunshade motor/actuator simultaneously rolls in the adaptable sunshade panel.
The sunroof switch is mounted in a bezel which is located above the rearview mirror.

Circuit/System Description
The sunroof system is controlled by the sunroof switch and the sunroof control module/motor assembly, which is also known as the motor/actuator assembly.
The sunroof control module is supplied battery positive voltage at all times through the 15A SUNROOF fuse located in the rear fuse block. Whenever the ignition is turned to RUN or ACCESSORY, or when the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active, the module is also supplied voltage through the accessory voltage circuit and the 10-amp ROOF/HEAT SEAT fuse located in the body control module (BCM). The sunroof control module is grounded through the ground circuit at G302.
The sunroof control module supplies voltage to the contacts of the sunroof switch through the sunroof switch close signal circuit and the sunroof switch open signal circuit. The sunroof control module also supplies ground to the switch contacts through the sunroof switch low reference circuit. When the switch is operated, the contacts and signal circuit for the selected mode are closed to ground, the voltage is pulled low in the module, and the appropriate signal is recognized by the control module. The control module then internally applies battery positive voltage and ground to the appropriate circuits of the reversible power sunroof motor in order to move the sunroof glass panel to the open, close, or vent

Sunroof Description and Operation (One Connector System)
Sunroof
This diagnostic procedure is to be used for the 1 connector Sunroof System that combines the sunroof control module with the sunroof motor/actuator.
The Sunroof System consists of the following components:
• BATT MAIN 2 Fuse 50 A
• Body control module (BCM)
• RAP relay
• S/Roof Fuse 20 A
• Sunroof module (includes sunroof motor/actuator)
• Sunroof switch
The Sunroof System is controlled by the sunroof switch and the sunroof motor/actuator assembly.
When the ignition is turned to RUN or ACCESSORY, or when the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active, the body control module (BCM) applies a ground to the RAP relay in the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block. This activates the RAP relay and allows battery positive voltage to be applied through the SUNROOF Fuse to the sunroof module. Ground for the sunroof module is supplied from G302.
The sunroof can be placed in 3 preset positions:
• Open
• Vent
• Closed
When the sunroof switch is placed in the OPEN position, a ground is applied from the sunroof switch low reference circuit , through the sunroof switch and to the sunroof switch open signal circuit. The sunroof motor/actuator then applies voltage to the sunroof motor open control circuit and applies a ground to the sunroof motor close circuit. The sunroof motor then opens the sunroof to the full open position.
When the sunroof switch is placed in the VENT position, a ground is applied from the sunroof switch low reference circuit , through the sunroof switch and to the sunroof switch open signal circuit. The sunroof module then applies voltage to the sunroof motor open control circuit and applies a ground to the sunroof motor close circuit. The sunroof motor then opens the sunroof to the VENT position.
When the sunroof switch is placed and held in the CLOSED position, a ground is applied from the sunroof switch low reference circuit , through the sunroof switch and to the sunroof switch close signal circuit. The sunroof module then applies voltage to the sunroof motor close control circuit and applies a ground to the sunroof motor open circuit. The sunroof motor then closes the sunroof.
The sunroof can be placed in any preferred open position when:
• The sunroof is in the fully opened position by pressing and holding the sunroof switch in the CLOSE position until the panel has reached the desired position then release the CLOSE switch in order to stop the sunroof
• The sunroof is opening, it can be stopped by momentarily pressing either side of the switch.
The sunroof control module, sun roof actuator, and the sunroof motor are integral parts of the sunroof module assembly and are not service separately.

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop or buick dealer .

Moonroof wont close all the way

Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuit's with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? When adjusting the moon roof did you see any switches ? sunroof limit switch
Measure the reference voltage of the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal circuit at the sunroof control harness connector to a good ground.
Does the reference voltage measure near the specified value?
4.5-5.5 V
Notice: Do not open the sunroof glass past the full open soft stop position. Doing so may damage the sunroof assembly and or the roof top.
Connect a jumper wire to the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal circuit at the sunroof control module harness to a good ground.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Using the sunroof switch, operate the sunroof system, not to exceed the full open soft stop position.
Does the system operate as requested?

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Free one's here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year ,make ,model an engine size . Under system click body & accessories ,then under subsystem click on sun roof . Click the search button then the blue link . See the control module , motor an the two switches ? One is probably miss adjusted . or bad !

Power Sunroof System Components
The power sunroof system consists of the following components:
• Sunroof control module
• Sunroof motor with the limit switches
• Sunroof switch
• Sunroof glass-spoiler type, with glass sliding above roof
• Sunshade
• Rail and track assembly upon which the sunroof glass rides
• Power sunroof system circuit breaker: PWR WDO 25 A
• Ground: G204

Sunroof Limit Switches
The sunroof limit switches track the position of the sunroof glass through two limit switches:
• Soft Stop limit switch through the sunroof limit switch soft stop signal circuit
• Vent Stop limit switch through the sunroof limit switch range signal circuit
The sunroof control module monitors the limit switches and based on the input combinations, determines the position of the sunroof glass. As a sunroof limit switch closes, the 5 volt reference will be shorted to the sunroof limit switch low reference circuit, pulling the 5 volt reference to 0 volts.
The sunroof control module monitors both sunroof switch input requests and based on the sunroof limit switch input combinations, will control an output to the sunroof motor, to drive the sunroof glass to the requested position.

Sunroof Motor
The sunroof has a bi-directional motor. When the motor is not operating both circuits are grounded. When the motor drives the sunroof glass in the direction from the closed to vent or vent to open position, the following occurs:
• Voltage is supplied to the sunroof motor open circuit.
• Ground is maintained to the sunroof motor close circuit.
When the motor drives the sunroof in the direction from the open to vent or vent to closed position, the following occurs:
• Voltage is supplied to the sunroof motor close circuit.
• Ground is maintained to the sunroof motor open circuit.
The sunroof control module is equipped with a timer circuit which stops the operation of the sunroof motor after 8 seconds.
