Is this 40lbs. at the pump or after the fuel filter? If at the pump, the fuel filter may be blocked. Change it if necessary. Good luck!

I have a 1991 corsica and it just stopped running. I checked everything with no luck. I checked the fuel injecters and 2 of them were bad. I replaced them and now all is fine. It reminded me of the old christmas lights when 1 went out they all went out. It is a dumb set-up but that is how they work.

Replaced ignition module, spark plug wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, and thermostat. car starts then after a while you turn it off and try to restart it, but all it does is crank, will not turn over....

COULD BE FUEL PUMP.CHECK FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 40 - 47 PSI. WITH NEW FUEL FILTER. IF FUEL PRESSURE OKAY.YOUR SPARK PLUGS COULD BE FOULING OUT BY LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS BY ADDING A CAN OF SEAFOAM TO 3/4 TO FULL TANK OF GAS.WHEN YOU HOOK UP FUEL PRESSURE TESTER WITH IGNITION SWITCH ON ENGINE OFF FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD READ 40 PSI. TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH IF FUEL PRESSURE DROPS FAST YOUR FUEL PUMP CHECK VALVE BAD.IF FUEL PRESSURE DROPS SLOWLY IN TEN MINUTES TIME FUEL INJECTORS IS LEAKING A NEED CLEANING.INJECTORS SPRAYING TIP CLOGGED WITH CARBON BUILD UP CAUSING THEM TO LEAK DOWN WHEN ENGINE OFF.

Car will not start, turns over, but wil not start. It has a new battery

several things it can be. a couple things to check is to see if it has ignition fire to the spark plugs and see if it has fuel pressure.

Cranks but will not start but getting fuel to engine

Are you getting the right amount of pressure at the fuel rail? I believe it is 40 to 47 lbs. Anything below this your pump is bad.
Also did you check for spark? You can do this with a screw driver, pull a plug wire insert the screwdriver in the wire set it close to the engine, but not touching. crank the engine and watch for a spark. Be carefull not to touch the screwdriver as it is being cranked, because it will bite you.
Let me know And we can go from there.

1991 Corsica dies after being put in gear.

Hi

You need to get two things checked. Ignition and Fuel.

Ignition: typically in this order ... Start off from sparking plugs ,,, move to leads (get them changed) and on to the ignition coil if there is no spark coming out of it. In case of fuel, the carb needs a clean and a good carb cleaner or fuel treatment (added to the fuel tank) wont do any harm. You should open up the carb filter. Remove it and change it if its dirty. Start the engine rev it up and while its revved up (throttle flap open) spray the carb cleaner or in this will clean the carb cleaner from inside. If the power gradually increases its a clear sign that you need to open up the carb and get the jets cleaned. properly.

Hope that this fixya will get you on the roads soon :)

Regards :)

Car will not start

sounds like a fuel delivery issue, check your fuel pressure should be around 45 psi

No start

if it runs on starting fluid its a fuel problem.. check fuel pressure even if its a couple of pounds off, the vehicle will not run. but using starting fluid may give you the extra poundage you need to make it run . also check vacuum hose at pressure regulator on fuel rail
