The radiator core is corroded ,just renew the radiator ,putting leak sealers in will only prolong the agony .

1989 Subaru GL Wagon, told I need both axels replaced and ball joints as well as brakes replaced, for $500.00. Is that too much?

That whole deals sounds fishy. Brake job should be about $100 depending on parts. That part about needing to replace axle to replace ball joints doesn't sound right. I've been a diesel mechanic for 30 yrs and bought, drove and fixed used cars a bunch. Not that specific one, but plenty of them. Get another opinion.

How to replace lower ball joint on 1998 Honda CRV?

On a car this old, I would replace the whole lower arm, because the inner bushing is probably worn out, too. Much easier to do, so the cost of the part might be offset by the savings in labor. Just a few nuts and bolts and getting the ball joint to release from the knuckle with a few hammer hits.

the lower rad hose goes to the water pump, as for the vibration it could be many things, tires, shockbushings, tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings, you will have to investigate further

Can you show me detail pictures of step by step repair of ball joint and controll arm of 1990 ford thunderbird v6 3.1 automatc

prev.gif next.gif REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Upper ball joints are not replaceable. The upper ball joint is part of the upper control arm bushing joint and is not serviced separately. If the upper ball joints are found to be defective, the entire upper control arm bushing joint assembly must be replaced. Lower Ball Joint INSPECTION
  1. Support the vehicle in normal driving position with ball joints loaded.
  2. Wipe the grease fitting and checking surface, so they are free of dirt and grease. The checking surface is the round boss into which the grease fitting is threaded.
  3. The checking surface should project outside the cover. If the checking surface is inside the cover, replace the lower arm assembly. prev.gif next.gif

How to replace axels and cv joints

The most cost effective way to service these axles and C.V. joints is with a remanufactured drive axle.
The lower ball joints will need to be separated at the steering knuckle, the axle nut removed with an air impact wrench. Then the drive axles are popped out of the transmission with a large pry bar. Only a retaining clip holds the axle into the transmission. Good luck

Upper ball joints/ '89 silverado 1500 4x4

I think the lower ball joints when removing will give you easier access to the top. I would suggest going to the local parts store for a print out of the procedure to be on the safe side.
