Hold down clamps is the other item you must loosen and remove. . You must find out how many Cold Cranking amps(CCA) your car needs to start, thats the size battery you purchase. Make sure its top or side post and same physical size as possible as your old battery.

I can't get my battery out of my Vauxhall combo van to put a new one in what do I need to do thanks

Some models of Combo Van will need you to remove some pieces of body trim to get to the battery more easily. These are usually held in place with screws or 'push in' clips.
Loosen the nut on the clamp on the Negative, (black), terminal and remove the clamp. Next loosen and remove the red positive clamp from that terminal.
Next look down all four sides of the battery. Your looking for a bolt head and clamp holding down one edge of the battery. Unscrew this bolt until the clamp is loose. This should release the battery enough for you to wriggle it out. In some cases you might have to remove the clamp to get the battery out.
To refit, position the new battery the same way around as the old one. Tighten the clamp that's down the side to hold down the battery. Refit the RED (positive) terminal first and tighten the nut, then refit the BLACK (negative) terminal and tighten that nut as well. Refit any trim and test start the engine. Hope this helped?

How to remove battery from 1999 cadillace sedan deville

Disconnect negative terminal (black) first. Then disconnect positive terminal (red).

Then, use a 1/2" hex socket and extension and ratchet to unscrew the hold down bolt that holds the black plastic hold down piece on the bottom of the battery.

Remove any cross members that block the lifting of the battery out of the battery tray, by unscrewing any bolts that are located on the plate.

How do i replace battery? 2005 town and country 3.8L

1. Disconnect the battery terminals from the battery.
Loosen the nut on the NEGATIVE (-) terminal first. You may need to expand the terminal to get it off the post.. you can use a screw driver to gently pry it wider.
2. Disconnect the positive next... same procedure.

3. There is a battery hold-down that needs to be unscrewed. Look down the front edge of the battery. There should be a small plastic or metal clamping plate that is screwed down. Remove the clamp.

4. Carefully lift out old battery,

5. Installation is just the reverse... be sure to attach the positive terminal first..(just for safety's sake)

to help you out..

How to remove battery in 1992 Toyota Corona so it can be recharged

(1) Loosen screw on negative ( - ) terminal clamp, lift negative cable off terminal, and put cable end somewhere where it can't touch the battery. This stops the positive terminal from being "live" with respect to the rest of the car.

(2) Lift plastic cover from positive ( + ) terminal. Loosen screw on positive terminal clamp, while making sure your screwdriver is nowhere near the negative terminal at all times. Lift positive cable off terminal, and put cable end somewhere where it can't touch the battery.

(3) Loosen the butterfly nuts over the clamp that holds the battery to the tray. One butterfly nut will have to come off completely, the other can stay on so you don't lose the clamp down the middle of the engine. Swing the clamp off to one side.

(4) Lift the battery out of the tray, keeping it upright at all times.

To reinstall the battery, follow the above steps in reverse order.

I have a 1990 audi 200. When accs. turn on alternater belt squeak

I agree. Replace the battery first. It's under the back seat, which will lift up after undoing two screws in the front of the bottom of the seat. Remove negative terminal, remove positive terminal, lift old battery out, put in new one, attach positive terminal, attach negative terminal, reinstall seat, and you're done.

If that's not the issue, you may need to replace the alternator.

  • Install the positive battery cable.
  • Then install the negative cable.
  • When installing a battery, be careful to observe the correct polarity. Reversing the cables destroys the diodes. Proper polarity must also be observed when connecting a booster battery, positive to positive and negative to ground.
