2007 uplander won't start. display says

2007 uplander won't start. key turns, clicks but engine does not turn over, then display says "starter disabled" followed by "service theft deterrent system" - is there a way to bypass or reset this to be able to start the engine and drive it to the dealership?

It had to be towed to the dealership, and it turned out it just needed a new battery. Even after trying to jump it, it would not re-set and could not be driven until the dealership did whatever they did...

I'm having the same problem...did you find a solution?

  • sherriberrym Jan 20, 2011

It turned out the battery was dead and that triggered the system to shut down and display error messages. Even a jump did not help - it had to be towed in to the dealership and re-set there.

I have a 2007 Chevy uplander. Yesterday while driving down the road it died on my. I pulled over and it started back up. Went about 10 miles and it died again. We were low in gas but nothing bad. I put...

Clicking noise where ? under the hood in the engine compartment ,the starter , a relay in the fuse box , inside the vehicle etc.... Checking the battery , battery cables and connections , do the headlamps work ,are they bright ?
If the headlamps work and are bright then the battery an connections are Ok . If not bright ,voltage drop test the main battery cables an connections .
How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit
The starting system on your vehicle is different then this , a tipical starting . Your starter system is more complex ,when you turn the key to the start position it inputs a voltage signal to the BCM - body control module , The BCM then sends a message to the PCM - engine computer on the class 2 serial data communication network that start is requested . The PCM will then supply a ground to the control side of the start relay energizing the relay sending B+ voltage to the starter solenoid .
The vehicle dying on you could be any number of thing's ,and without testing we'd only be guessing . When electronic thing's heat up they tend to act like that , till they cool again .

2007 chevy uplander

Someone will need to check the starter posts for power with the key switch in the start position. Could be the neutral safety switch or something else.

My chevy upland wont start just click and the battery is charged?

Starter selonoid is bad or could be bad connection. Start by cleaning all the wire connections from battery positive to starter and both ends of the negitive wire.

2007 Dodge Caravan won't start.Batt. is good, all lights work, Turn key, solenoid clicks and stops, all gauge needles slowly move to max., and return to min. No codes displayed.

When you try to start it do the lights dim way low, have you been able to start it with a jump from another vehicle, unfortunately, chances are the starter needs to be replaced. How many miles does it have?

Trouble shoot a 2007 honda crv starter

Take the starter off for testing. If the lights were normally bright, and went dim when key was in cranking position, it means the start circuit is working-battery power is going to the starter, but it won't do anything. The starter motor is probably bad.
Good luck.

My 2007 tundra went dead. The ignition won't start

There are several possibilities ranging from a defective starter, to bad cable connections, to the onboard security system locking out the starter relay, or an aftermarket accessory interfering with the starter circuit, or a locked-up/damaged engine.

I have had vehicles towed into my shop for similar complaints when the only problem was that the customer was using a cheap duplicate key that they had made at the hardware store that did not have the required computer chip in it.

I have also had vehicles towed in where the customer had replaced the battery and did not have good cable connections or forgot to connect one of the wires that was supposed to to get hooked-up to the battery connector.

Then there are the questions: Are you getting any kind of "clicking" noises when turning the key or is it completely dead? If it is clicking, WHAT is clicking? Is it the starter motor itself that you hear or just the starter motor relay? Do you have battery power at the starter "S" terminal when turning the key? If not, is the transmission selector in "PARK"? Does the shift indicator on the dash indicate that the transmission range sensor is in "PARK"? (possible defective transmission range sensor) Are there any fault codes stored in ANY of the modules connected to your onboard computer network?

It is really hard to say without being able to see the truck.

2007 chevy cobalt ls won't start battery good starter good turn key nothing no click nothing all lites work on dash and radio works jumped starter with screwdriver turns. Over but won't start...

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

Uplander oil service idecator rest" 2007 model year

Not a problem. Comes on based on miles, so you should also change the oil. But you need to manually reset the counter.

Chevrolet Uplander, 2005-06 Chevrolet Venture 2001-05
With the ignition key in RUN but the engine off, repeatedly push the trip/reset button until OIL is displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIG).
Once “OIL” is displayed, push and hold the trip/reset button for five seconds.
The number will disappear and be replaced by 100 (indicating 100% oil life remaining).
Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset.
Repeat the procedure.

2006 uplander has new battery and clamps no corrosion just clicks and no start

While your Chevy is still pretty new, it sounds like you have a starter solenoid issue. That's a typical symptom of its failure.

A starter solenoid (or starter relay) is the part of an automobile which relays a large electric current to the starter motor, which in turn sets the engine in motion. In many vehicles the solenoid also engages the starter pinion with the ring gear of the engine.
