It could be the oil pan gasket, or, as it was in my case, the oil pan on my 2005 Pathfinder actually rusted through. There were very tiny pinholes in the metal pan. It was not horrible to replace the pan myself.
5w30, conventional or synthetic if up to you. i tend to recommend synthetic, but whatever you choose, stick with it, it is not a good idea to switch back and forth.
The transfer case uses Nissan Type "D" or equivalent, or Dexron/Mercon III ATF, the newest Dexron is Dexron VI, u may use that alo, it is vastly superior to earlier Dexron.
it depends on if it is a diesel or petrol then it depends on the use look on the back or a bottle of oil it will have a graph there and it will say if it is good for older motors or not or if it is good for big motors oil bottles have guides on the back that will help you just make Shaw one thing diesel oil for diesel motors same with petrol "gas"
The manuel should tell you what weight of oil to use, IE 10w-30. If you are asking what brand to use, it really does not matter what brand. Many of the different brands are all actually produced from the same company with different labels on them. The laws that oil companies must follow when producing oil are very strict so one brand of oil is not really different from the other. The differences are so small that there would be no noticable affect on your vehicle. It is the same with fuel as well. One brand of fuel is not any different from the other and unless you have a very high performance engine if your vehicle, the difference between low octane and high octane will not be noticable
As far as the type of oil to use, you have oil, partial synthetic oil, and full synthetic oil. Full synthetic is the best.
I would go with full synthetic with what ever the reccomended weight is for your vehicle. Many cars now have what type of weight to use on the oil cap.
very common problem you are burning oil. the piston rings, that nissan used are the problem. We see quite a few of the 3.5 liter engines loosing oil due to piston ring problem. nissan sais that 1qt. per 3500 miles is exceptable, but who want a vehicle that burns oil?? not me. good luck with that.
