Generally a medium size pry bar will pop it loose it will have a round wire clip on the end of the axle ive also had to use 2 pry bars to evenly pull it out and installation is easy as a few smacks on the end with a brass or rubber hammer hold the axle as straight as you can and youll feel it snap in place hope this helps

It is just held in with a circlip. Pry it out of the transmission with a prybar.

How to remove inner CV joint on a 2005 kia amanti

To remove an inner CV joint, you must remove the entire half-shaft from the vehicle. Here is the procedure:

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

Front wheel Spindle nut Lower ball joint from the knuckle
  3. Press the stub shaft out of the hub, use a plaster hammer if necessary.
  4. If removing the left side halfshaft:
    1. Using a suitable pry bar, pry the inner joint out of the transaxle.
  5. If removing the right side halfshaft:
    1. Using a suitable pry bar, pry the inner joint out of the center bearing bracket.
    2. Remove the center bearing bracket mounting bolts.
    3. Using a suitable pry bar, pry the center bearing bracket from the cylinder block.
    4. Remove the inner shaft from the transaxle.

The individual joints CAN be replaced, but this requires disassembly of the half-shaft by cutting the clamps that hold the boots and frankly is a greasy mess. Remanufactured half-shafts are available for less than $100 USD and are already assembled for immediate installation.

2005 Nissan Altima... replaced drivers side strut and the inner cv joint seperated when the lower arm dropped. The cv joint is still in the transmission but the boot is stretched and the axle will not go...

It can be fixed but now you will need to remove it from the trans and cut the band off the larger side of the boot. then re-alighn the knuckles and slide the 3 joints in 1 at a time. You going to need a new band and the crimper which you can usualy rent from a parts store that has free tool rental. Make sure you grease the joint before you slide the boot back on. Its easier that it looks. When you pull the cv joint out of the transmission some fluid will come out too so use a drain pan. Sometimes they are a pain to get out but a good prybar and some patients usualy works. Pry as you turn the cv joint and it will pop out. Good luck!

Streering boot replacement procedures for a subaru

To replace the outer boot, the inner joint and boot must be removed as the outer joint usually isn't easy to separate from the axle shaft. The outer shaft or joint may be damaged if disassemble is attempted. As noted above, if the inner left side boot is torn, it can be replaced while on the car, just by separating the knuckle at the ball joint as noted, then pulling the axle off of the trans-axle output splines.

The inner tripod joint can be removed by removing or pulling back the boot at the joint and then removing the inner circlip that acts as a stop to prevent the joint from separating. With the clip removed, the tripod trunnion and bearings (free rings) can be removed from the housing. Its best to keep the tripod bearings on their respective pins and the bearings in the same races in the housing, so marking everything as you disassemble is important for joint life after reassembly. With the bearing assembly out of the housing, remove the external circlip that holds the tripod axle in place on the splined shaft and slide the tripod off. Marking position is again important to prevent vibration problems.

Now the inner boot, then the outer boot can be removed and replaced. Be sure to look for dirt or water in the joints, and repack with enough CV grease to provide lubrication, but not so much that there isn't any expansion space inside the boot. This may cause excess grease to be pushed out or the boot to dislodge. Reinstall the boot retaining bands with a proper crimping tool. Work the joints in all directions before reinstalling the axle, just to make sure there is no hint of binding. The joints should feel tight, but with no hitches, which could cause noise or vibration.

I'am trying to take the transaxle out of the transmission to fix an oil leak

Remove the wheel cover and loosen the drive axel hub nut. loosen the the wheel lug nuts raise the vehicle and support it well. NOTE: you will have to be working under the car be very careful. remove the drive axel hub nut. To prevent the hub from turning, insert a screwdriver thru the brake caliper and into one of the cooling slots on the rotor. remove the control arm-to-steering knuckle. Check for the ABS sensor and remove it out of your way. Separate the drive axel from the hub. If stuck remove the brake caliper and rotor. Push the axel out of the hub with a puller or you can use a good solid broom handle and drive it out. If you are removing the right side axel you will need a slide hammer and adaptor to separate the axel from the trans. If you are removing the left side, carefully pry the axel out of the trans. with a large pry-bar positioned between the inner CV joint and the trans. case. Use the subframe as a pivot point. Hold the CV joints so they do not separate inside the rubber if going to reuse them. Lubricate the new seal with multi-purpose grease before you install it.

I need yo know how to replace the cv joint and

remove axle nut, seperate balljoint from control arm, usually a good whack with a hammer on the control arm near the balljoint will free it,pry control arm down to remove knuckle assy, remove roll pin from inner axle joint now you can remove axle, most of the time the inner joint boot tears this is called the d-o-j {double offset joint} replace this boot as well,my suggestion is consider replacing axle with reman depending on mileage 100k or more.remember when reinstalling axle splines need to be lined up on inner shaft so roll pin goes in without problem good luck

Seperate outer cv from axel 99 chevy metro

First, did you check the price difference on a complete axle (saves time and aggravation of doing joint & boot) Most times you can get them apart by just putting the axle in a vise and giving the joint a good smack with a hammer. There is a small clip in the end that you can spread, but you have to look carefully to find it. Most people have a hard time getting the boot to stay on and find it has come off a few weeks after they installed it.
That's why I suggest replacing the entire axle which if far cheaper than they used to be!!!

Remove outter boot from axel

If you remove the 6x 12mm bolts from the diff to remove the shaft, then remove the IFfitted free wheeling hub 6 cap screws, C clip, take wieght of 4x4 onn the lower con trol arm and remove the 4 12 bolts that hold the top ball joint the shaft will now come out.

at the diff end of shaft is a cap aprox 60-70mm diam, remove it best way is to gently slide the shaft in to the joint and it will pop the cap out. remove the C clip on the shaft, loosen the bands on the boot tap shaft off the joint remove the boot.

remove the bands on the outer joint , remove the boot or whats left of it. wipe out the old grease, repack with the special grease supplied with the boot kit try and get down in the joint swivel it at the same time.fit the new boot and bands.
revese order to finnish off. When doing the inner boot slide the CV joint in the middle of the travel then tighten the bands if you dont do this you can pop the boot as the pressure builds up as the shaft goes in...if the inner boot is ok have a good look replace the grease as well OEM boots ar the best aftermarket ones dont last long, in Australia that is.

tighten the 6 bolts on the diff realy tight pref use lock tight they can work loose.

you can do this in about 1.5 hours.......any problems let me know.done this heaps of time......
