If it still hesitates I'd say it was a carburetor issue (accelerator pump, power valve..). If it is only acting up when accelerating (while driving) that would tell me it ... 1980 CJ5Renegade with 304 v8 .... Sounds like a malfunctioning egr system. Too much egr gasses at once will lean out the air fuel mixture and cause hesitation in an engine. Just my 2 cents.
Replace plugs and wires at the same time to fix. It goes to lock up mode in the transmission at that speed and this is when you most notice a slight skip or miss.
if the car does a nosedive then this will not help....
the autobox is a fuzzy logic, computer controlled unit that, will try to make you drive more gently(eco)the pedal position/roadspeed/air temp/humidity and load all play together to change up/down when it feels like it(almost)if you drive with a heavy foot it will learn to change higher up the rev range(more fun/fuel)if you drive gently this will feel like its hesitating(split second)try pressing down about an inch on the pedal
then after 100yds another inch and so on you will feel the difference.
Load issues can be anywhere along the drive train. Put the car into gear with your foot on the brake and BRIEFLY press on the accelerator - if the engine misses/hesitates, the problem is with usually with the engine. If not, it's probably in the transmission, u-joints on the drive shaft or the rear differential. If it's the engine, you will need to do all the usual checks (throttle body, EGR, fuel pressure, etc.).
disconnect the egr valve and try it at low speed if you give some gas egr open to mush to mush air not enought gas create hesitation before changing the egr just disconnect it and try hope it FIXYA our problem thanks pierre
