My wife is having security alarm problems. Her 2000 ford expedition won't start occasionally and we have to disconnect the battery to get it to start. What is the problem and how can it be fixed?

Clean the battery terminals and also check for a Good Ground - use a star type washer and connect the negative battery lead to a clean grounded steel part like attenator bracket for example - if the existing grd is rusty that may be your problem
First thing I would do is have someone qualified disconnect the alarm and stereo and start over. Chances are you have circuits cross-connected and something is draining the battery.
This truck has a factory security system, why would another one be installed?? There is no way to know where the wiring was tapped into for the aftermarket alarm, so just get under the dash and trace the wires is all That I can suggest, remove the steering column covers to access the switch is necessary..
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Put an ammeter between the negative battery terminal and the disconnected cable. Remove fuses one at a time and look for a large drop in current. The fuse with the big drop is on the circuit with the short.
Note that even with the ignition off the radio, the alarm, and the remote entry will pull a few milliamps each. The control module might also draw some power.
After locating the circuit with the problem you need to check wiring and components for shorts.
A service manual (Haynes, Chilton, etc.) with a wiring diagram is helpful. Check your local auto parts store for manuals.
dont you have the alarm key fob? if so that will reset it. just press unlock. If you dont an dits not a OEM Acura alarm you will need to find who makes it and get a new key fob, or have a shop that does alarms to disconnect it.
