Bad grounds, corroded sockets or connectors. check that you have 12 volts to the sockets and the ground path is good.

Hi there,
You'll find one fuse box under the bonnet (hood) and another next set on the kick panel inside the cabin....The running lights (Park / marker light also operate the instrument panel lights....The covers of both boxes have directories inside....The one you're interested in is the one inside the cabin....

My 1988 toyota p.u has no running lights and no dash lights are these problems stemming from a bad fuse or two separate issues?

Sounds like the running lights and dash lights are on the same circuit.
check the fuse marked-----instr clstr, (instrument cluster), or simular.
If that fuse is ok, check the other fuses for lights.

1988 Toyota pickup will not start after changing altinator. no lights in dash and will not start. battery charging head lights work great

Check fuse-able links, check by gently pulling apart the wires on either side of the fuse-able links, be sure to try to check them all, it helps to mark the ones you check to avoid constant rechecking and getting "lost" on which ones have been checked. Hope this helps.

Brake lights wont work.

try taking a wire brush to all the ground wire ports on your vehicule specialy the ones in the rear of the vehicule sometimes rusty ground wires make very bad connections. if so when you are done put some grease on them to avoid future rust. hope this coul help you.

1988 camry rear lights.

Look at the wiring harness that runs along the hinge on the trunk lid, driver side. Camrys with lights on the trunk lid are know to break one of these wires.
