95 Honda Accord V6 I heard a popping noise when I was driving my car then the gauges on my car (speed and rpm) started moving up and down them stopped working. My lights inside the car and headlights went dim. I pulled to the side turned the car off turned it back on I put my foot on the gas and it felt like my car wanted to stall. The gauges didnt work at this time, lights still dim. Then everything kicked back in and the car took off.

there could be a slight hole in one of the air intale hoses and can only be heard at idle as drowned out by engine noise , i'd get the OBD codes read this should tell you which , if any , sensor/switch etc could be causing this issue, keep me posted if you wish
with engine off, grab the fan and shake it to see if there is any play in it. sounds like the bearing may have shelled out in it, causing it to drop down at a low rpm, when engine is revved up at higher rpm, centrifugal force lifts it back up.
a dirty or faulty MAF sensor can cause proplems like this. try cleaning it with CRC MAF cleaner you can get it at just about any autoparts store. the MAF is located on the air intake disconnect the electrical connection and remove the sensor be careful not to damage the fragile filaments inside. there is no need to wipe it just spray it clean and let air dry be sure to spray all parts plug, filaments everything
is your catalytic converter clogged? Mine was and I had to have it replaced. It would bog down and I would have to floor it to get any power. Once I got the catalytic converter replaced, I had no more problems
Hi ....
On your HOnda accord V6.
The rpm is generated from the Distributor.
The more possible problem for erratic RPM is the cam sensor inside of the Distributor. But I guess you can't buy just the sensor.
And can afect the engine performance.
OK. I hope this information work for you.
I work on cars everyday. Thank you for use fixya.
