Does the temperature gauge say its running hot? Does the low coolant warning light come on? if yes to both then you probably have a small pinhole leak in a coolant line or a leak in the heatercore. pull the dip stick out dont wipe it, does it look brownish-black with small bubbles in it? it should just look black and not smell burnt. if its black thats good! Now go to you exhaust pipe with the engine running is there a lot of water coming out?..a little tiny bit is normal especially on a cold morning. stick finger in exhaust pipe and rub along inside surface...what color is the exhaust grime? it should be light brown to dark brown...if car is tuned properly. go wash finger off now Lol!! if its brown your engine is running perfectly and i dont believe anyone has put anything in your gas tank....so now you just have to see if the warning lights came on due to lack of maintenance or a true failure of the coolant system. Get the car real hot drive it around then lift up the hood and start looking for leaks, if you dont see any sign of leaks, then your car should be running at a normal temperature gauge indication...you need to check this its important the engine temperature has to be approx 180 to 195 degrees +/- 5 degrees if its only running at 100 degrees the thermostat is stuck in an open loop and you not only boil off coolant quicker you"ll also use up more fuel leading to poor gas mileage.

You can put a locking fuel tank cap on if you believe it is being tampered with. but i don't think that the antifreeze smell is related to the tank thing. the.most common cause for the antifreeze smell is the thermostat gasket, on most of the dodge trucks & SUV,s are defective, Look where upper radiator hose meats the intake if it is wet or a white res ado replace the gasket. hope this helped if so please let us know feel free to ask if we can be of any further assistance. Thank You .
