Please clarify if this is a 6 cylinder or V8 please.
Either way it seems unusual that water would be pouring out in the front and rear of the motor, if it was a water pump. The waterpump being at the front of the motor. So it may possibly be a burst water hose which is running along the side of the engine or on top near the center if its a V8.
As too it being a blown head gasket well, if the engine still runs quite smoothly at idle then you got no problem there..So check all hosing and piping first for leaks.

Neither, It sounds like a rubber coolant line on top of the engine that burst, These new engines are not like the old days when you could see every part and get to them, but there are probably 15 little coolant lines running back and forth on top, You will have to remove the intake to get to it. I might be wrong, so I would get somebody to check it out before tearing it apart. My truck starting doing that and I found a little O-ring shot and water all over the top of the engine. Hope this helps.

If you can see water pouring from the front and the rear of the engine/cylinder head then I would suspect a head gasket. However, why not remove those components which will allow you to fully inspect the water pump first as the chances are that you would also have to remove these items to remove and repair the head gasket. You may also find water in the engine oil or water in the cylinders which can cause locking of the engine and serious internal damage if not addressed immediately.

Losing water

the best way to find out is to put water in it with food coloring in it so when you look from underneath, you wont come out with antifreeze all over you. It also depends on how often you have to add water, freeze plugs will pour water and water pumps "weap tears" and takes longer but either case you are risking head gasket damage because those vehicles have aluminum heads and it doesnt take much heat to warp a head/valve and/or blow head gasket.

Leaking coolant.. its hard to see where it is coming from.. it leaks out heavily when car is cranked,, it looks like it is comin from right behind the belt drive (the bigger one) is that the water pump?

This does sound like your water pump is leaking, or your head gasket has busted on the outside edge. I would check the water pump first, as it is fairly common for the seal to bust and leak coolant from the water pump.

Unfortunately if the water is coming out of the back of the block that is not going to be a water pump. It's also not going to be anything you want to hear at the moment. The only thing on the rear of the engine that could be leaking water is a water jacket or the Head Gasket being blown. Neither is an easy or cheap fix. Double check and make sure the water is coming from the rear of the engine because if it is there is no happy time in the near future.

I have a 04 VW Beetle with a 2.0. Just replaced the thermostat. Now it is leaking coolant badly. I have checked and seems to be comming from the middle of the engine. I have checked both the thermostat and...

If it is not coming out of any hose connection, and it is in the middle front area...it is most likely the water pump. You may be able to get a look at the pump, which is run by the timing belt. The pump mounts behind its rear cover unfortunately. Some water pumps have a small hole that you can check for water leaking out to indicate it is bad. If not, you will have to remove the timing belt rear cover to check the water pump gasket area for water leaks.
A head gasket is not likely unless you find water in your oil.
Good Luck!

Water pouring out when poured into radaitor

You have a bad casting plug in the side of the engine. A lot of people call them freeze plugs because they pop out if the coolant freezes. They also rust through. They are driven in place and the size can be looked up at the parts store. You will want to change all of them . Lee

what this means is that you have a rusted out cylinder block core plug, some people call them freeze plugs (which is not what they are), since if one goes they are all ready to go it is best to replace them all, the problem is that it sounds like the one that went on your truck may be the one behind the trans bell housing, this of course means the trans must come out to replace the rear core plugs
