When I turn the key, I can hear the engine trying to start, but nothing happens. This started yesterday, I was driving home on the interstate when my car suddenly just decelerated and stopped. I couldn't get it to start again. We put a new battery in, and tested the alternator which is good. I need to check the ignition control module but have no idea where it is. Help? I have a lincoln Town Car 1997

Won't start how ? When your the key to the start position what happens ? The engine spins but won't start an run . this a crank no start condition . If nothing happens when you turn the key to start ,this is a no crank no start condition . Need to be clear on this so we know what to have check . If nothing happens when turning the key to start position ,try moving gear selector to neutral - park neutral safety switch . If when you turn the key to start an the engine does spin but doesn't start an run ,check for spark ,fuel pressure . see what's missing .

Bad news....if you ran low on oil, the car likely sustained engine damage and will need major engine repair/replacement.

A mechanic can determine the exact issue.

check the main engine fuse in the engine compartment

Your fuel pump is in the tank. It is a combination pump/ tank sending unit.

with a problem like this you must surly have a check engine light on ?
To answer your question yes an EGR valve could cause this problem on a hemi ! But would act up more cold .
And No the key thing wont work on this year of vehicle , you need to have a scanner for OBD 3 to retrieve the codes .
This sounds like a fuel problem to me have you checked fuel pressure ? and for a tuneup , remember the hemi takes 16 spark plugs it could have some of them miss firing .

bad alternator is what i have heard not 100 percent on that but a possibility.

see if it has a fuel shut off switch

needs a starter- or cable- if you had to tap on it for it to work its junk-
