I have had this same problem with my buicks, Try to loosen the bolt and push the wiper down and retighten the bolt (or nut depending on model) IF this does not help then yes the action arm that is hooked to the motor is worn

Wipers are not working. Fuses are intact. Any Suggestions? Looked under fuse box and can't really see anything labeled wipers.2008 Holden Viva

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? A wiring diagram for your vehicles windshield wipers electrical circuit would show all components involved . You would need a wiring diagram for testing ,so you know which wires too test . It would show the fuse location - amperage etc.... Which of these is your vehicle - Notchback or hatchback or station wagon .

Windshield Wiper System
The windshield wiper system consists of a wiper motor, a linkage, a wiper arm and a blade, and a wiper/washer switch. The windshield wiper circuit incorporates a self parking device which consists of a worm gear and a cam plate in order to keep the circuit engaged temporarily when the switch is turned off. The wiper system is driven by a permanent magnet-type motor. The windshield wiper motor is mounted on the dash panel and is directly connected to the windshield wiper linkage.
The windshield wiper motor has 2 speeds, LO and HI, and also has intermittent wiper capability. The wiper switch is an integral part of the wiper/washer switch. Windshield wiper operation is actuated through the lever on the right side of the steering column.

How do you remove the windshield wiper arm on a 1995 Dodge Dakota?thank you

there are 2 ways to tackle this! your local auto supply store has a tool for this its made by k.d tools or you can use a large flat bitted screw driver and a 1 inch piece of wood ,place the wood nex tto the wiper arm put a rag under it not to scratch your paint now lift your wiper arm up as you would to change the blade, put the blade of the screw driver under the edge of the arm at the cowl end and using the wood as a fulcrum gently pry up the arm , you may have to do this on both sides to get it to pop off!

Windshield wipers travel past the driver side window:

There is a tool for that, to take the spring tension off the arm

You can still wrestle it off, by lifting the arm off windshield
& on the arms right side & under it ,is a small tab you slide
out.

Then the arm comes off & you can reinstall in a different place

Windshield wipers travel way to far on our 2001 subaru outback stationwagon. How do I shorten up the travel ?

I have the same problem with a 2001 Legacy wagon. The problem is not as simple as the solutions above. Mine are adjusted to park as low as possible when turned off. Even so, the blade on the drivers side goes all the way off the windshield. The Subaru dealer wants to replace the whole wiper blade transmission for about $450. Looking online it seems to be interconnecting arms and pivot points that connect the motor to the wiper blade arms.

1988 VW GTI 16 valve. How to fix and replace windshield wiper arm(not just blade). It rotates beyond wind shield.

Remove the wiper arm. Switch on the wipers for a 15 seconds or so then switch them off and allow the wiper motor to reach the "Park" position. Re-fit the wiper arm/blade so the blade sits an inch or 2 from the lower edge of the windscreen. Pour some water on the screen or use the screenwashers and try the wipers to see if they still travel beyond the edge of the screen. Small adjustments can be made by lowering the arm towards the bottom edge of the screen by a couple of splines on the shaft. If it still travels beyond the edge of the screen then you may need a replacement linkage as it could be worn. You may be able to buy the linkage only and use your existing motor-I know this is possible with the Sharan but not sure on your model/year.

Windsheild wiper does not remain in contact for the full stroke. The blade actually raises off the windsheild.1995 volvo wagon. three sets of blades, two sets replaced by mechanics.

Try this:

With ignition on, turn on wiper switch. When wiper arm gets to point where blade does not touch screen, turn off ignition switch so that wipers do not return to park position. It may take a few goes to stop arm in the right position so repeat process until it is in the best position.

Check main wiper arm and bend slightly towards windscreen so that blade touches screen and there is some spring pressure from the arm to keep blade on screen. Also check that there is no interference between main arm and the section which supports the rubber blade. If you get blade chatter as the arm sweeps, twist the end of the main arm slightly in the opposite direction to the movement that produces the chatter. It may take a bit of trial and error to get it all right.

How do I get the old wipers off my hyundai 2000 elantra wagon and put on new armour all wiper blades?

The old wiper blade assembly can be pushed out of the end of the wiper arm. Depending on the blade, you may need to use a screwdriver to depress a locking tab on the blade assembly. The new wiper blade snaps into place on the end of the wiper arm. Also, your new wiper blades usually come with diagrams/instructions. Check them.

Rear window wiper problem

I had a 94 wagon, and have a 99 wagon, and 2001 wagon. I think what you need there is a new rear wiper arm. This is about 44 bucks at getsaturnparts.net. The problem is getting the old wiper arm off without breaking the rear window. The corrosion between the wiper arm and the motor output shaft basically turns the metal into one piece, which may well explain why your arm spring is not holding the arm close to the window. Also explains why you cannot find used saturn rear wiper arms or rear motors on ebay. There is a small sliding lock at the base, but having moved it aside you will find the corrosion will not let the arm go anywhere.

Having done this twice, my approach as follows:

Get a new wiper arm

Take a hack saw and carefully saw the top of the wiper arm off exposing the motor shaft end. After spraying WD40 or other corrosion remover on get a small gear puller and pull the arm off the shaft. Use never seize and slide the new one on.

Wipers travel to far past winsheld

You may have had the wrong size wiper arm and/or blade recently installed. They can be different from side to side. Please check the correct wiper blade length with a part finder at your local parts store.
