Have the VALVE timing checked

Also have the ignition timing checked.

Make sure there are no error codes from a check engine light on.

SOURCE: car won,t fire up but trying to turn over its as

Lots of reasoons for a no start this answer is as if it was running OK just the other day and was starting OK. The gas tank has gas? Spinning real freely indicates to me that the timing belt broke. The oil cap off the valve cover look in there to see the cam and crank engine you should see it turn. The fuel pump may not be coming on. The fuel filter could be frozen not letting the gas go though. The spark may not be happening as A senser or also a plug wire or other wire off inspection of these things something off can be the only problem

SOURCE: Car has been sitting; will turn over but won't

My first thought is to check the fuel pump operation.
Check to see if fuel pump is getting power.

This is how I check the pump.

Usually there is an in-line fuel filter that can be removed.
While its removed...bump the starter to see if gas shoots out the gas line.
If not, there might be a clog at the pump...or the pump needs replacing.

Hope this helps...

My truck got hot yesterday cause of a blown heater hose and it won,t start today , i,ve got fire and i can smell fuel , but it won,t start

The first question I would ask, Is it turning over? If not, pull the plugs, and see if there is water in the cylinders. Water won't compress. Second question, if it is turning over, pull a couple of plugs and see if you find any water. Because you may have blown a head gasket. If you have, make sure you send the head to get it checked for cracks before reassembly. Good luck!! DD

I over heated, the serpentine belt snapped. Opened the hood to find steam rapidly coming out of both the antifreeze and out of the engine right by the head gasket. It wasn't smoke not blue or black jus

Perform a compression test on your cylinders. One unfortunate result of overheating is the blown head gasket. Without compression your motor will not run. Tester are not super expensive or some stores will lend tools.

I think it is i will probably have to pull the timing belt, it sounds like it probably skipped due to the serpentine belt cords wrapped around something under the timing belt cover, any other suggestions on alternate causes before I start pulling the brand new timing belt?12

Truck wont crank. we have put new distributor cap, rotor button, coil pack, plugs, wires, and fuel pump. we also checked our firing order.

you said you repl dist cap that means you don't have a crank sensor you have electronic ing module. remove your elec ing module have it tested most auto parts stores could test your module, or check your coil at the neg terminal. should have power. if not you lost your primary volt from your batt.your secondary power is coming from your electronic ing module from the module to the pos terminal on the coil, when the eng cranks, from the coil to the dist cap , from the dist cap center to the rotor then out to the plugs, this all happen pervided the timing belt or timing chain is ok. the cumbustion chainber needs 3 things , thats fuel, air, and spark.
