I also have a 2008 Forenza. It is currently at the dealership because the transmission failed. I took it to the dealership and asked them to look into it when I got an oil change, they said they found nothing. Two days later, the check engine light was on and the car was severly jerking like it could not catch the correct gear. At first they said it was a sensor, and fixed that. I picked the car up, drove 1 mile, and it started jerking again - needless to say, I went back. They told me it could be the transmission module, but if not, they would have to replace the entire transmission. My advise is to be persistant with the dealership to find your problem or they will continue to pacify you and brush you off.

I also have a 2008 Forenza 62,900 miles and my car is doing the same thing...The problem with my car is the Throttle Pedal Position Sensor (TPS OBDII Code P2135) attached to the throttle body. You can not just replace the sensor because it is sealed to the throttle body. However, if your car has less than 80,000 miles your engine, it components and labor is still covered under the engine warranty. Have them check the codes...I bet one of them is the TPS code. They will have to replace the throttle body (a $400 part). Give them your year, mileage and VIN...Good Luck! Mine is getting replaced tomorrow.

2008 forenza 2.0 cam shaft torque specifications

most likely the torque specs are the same as the other model engine that is in your manual just be sure to tighten them slowly and equally back in forth in small increments because those cam shafts can snap very easily

  • If you don't replace the throttle body, eventually, you will not have a response when you accelerate (press on the gas pedal) Soon, you won't be driving anywhere. You should replace it as soon as you can.

Transmission sensor problem

there is a transmission sensor on the transmission block, you can see it under the hood on the drivers side right under the waterhose and its called neutral safety switch.when the sensor fails the engene light comes on and the D on the transmission slips. if you want to fix it yourself is very easy if you have some mechanic skills. first disconect the waterhose if you donot want to have any problems later, there are two screws holding the sensor and one nut in the middle, unplug the harness, remove the sensor, get the sensor at the dealership ,plug in the new sensor to the harness and set it to neutral by watching the car gears on dash, set the trany pin to neutral, the teeth on the sensor will find the way in easely by doing this, reconect everything, reset the car computer by disconecting the battery ground cable and stepping on the break pedal a few times for at least one minute, reconect the battery cable and you are done! iam not a mechanic,i just have some mechanic skills and thats how i fixed my suzuki forenza 2007 myself.
