Re: Ignition key wont turn on 2000 plymouth voyager
I don't believe there is a way you can start it without turning the tumbler on the key switch. You also have a locking steering wheel which would also have to be disabled in order to drive it.

bad key if only 1 key fails. bad cylinder, (LOCK SMITH TIME) did you wiggle the steering wheel, at same time and gear shift in park. read the operators guide.
several things to try, try turning steering wheel in both directions and holding there while turning key, this checks to see if steering wheel lock is binding , lubricate lock with wd-40 or silicon spray, sticky inside? another choice is try different key as old one is worn and not disengaging all the tumblers, all fails you need new ignition cylinder.
Hello there try giving your steering wheel a good **** and try the ignition at same time. I know the steering wheel is in the locked position but there is a little bit of play there that sometimes will release the locked up ignition.
Hello, you'll need a new ignition switch. You much have a lot of stuff hand off your key chain, yes or no. The more stuff hanging on the key chain more weight is inserted on the locking pins and spring in the tumbler of the ignition lock. It will finally get were one can start their vehicle.
If you can still start this Chrylser then remove all the keys and stuff that not necessary. Maybe, ignition key, trunk key, house key, gas key and post office key. The rest of the stuff put on another key chain. No more than 5 or 6 keys and no junk; such as, flash light, rabbit foot, charms, thing-a-gig, whata-you-call-it, a do-hicky, the knife that never been open, pepper spray. and whay ever else is hanging on the key chain. Try turning the wheel and pushing brakes in all the way. If this still happens, then the tumbler in the ignition may be bad or your key will have to be replaced.
If the key won't start it; it might not be the key ignition, but rather; the ignition that has a stem that goes from the key ignition down on the steering colunm. However, you can get key ignitions for them, or buy the whole steering colum then take the key ignition out of it. But, I would suggest more information is needed before I can conclude that it is just the key ignition. Hope this help~!
