There is a part that connects to the positive side of the battery. It is black and it has a ring that attaches to the battery. On the back end of the connector it plugs into another connector which has green and red wires. The ring which connects to the battery broke. Please advise what the name of the part is.

It is the fusable link connector.
The green wires and red wires are the fusable links.
(If the is a magor short in the electrical system they are designed to act like a fuse and burn through instead of the rest of the trucks wiring.)

Are there special procedures for jump start in a 2007 Toyota Solara?

If the battery was flattened, the horn is sounding because the immobilizer and alarm needs resetting.

The safest order to attach the jumper cables is as follows:
  1. Attach one red jumper cable clamp to the positive terminal on the dead battery.
  2. Attach the other end of the same cable, the second red jumper cable clamp, to the positive terminal on the working (live) car battery.
  3. Attach one black jumper cable clamp to the negative terminal of the working (live) car's battery.
  4. Attach the other end of that cable, the second black jumper cable clamp, to an unpainted piece of stationary metal on the car with the dead battery. Do not attach this clamp to the negative terminal on the dead car's battery.

Luton transit batteries stored externally 2 batteries connected. Black cable seems to be earthed. Red not connected to anything no visible sign of where to connect. Needless to say. no power!

Is there a connector on the loose end of the cable? It might be a flat 'ring' style about the width of your finger or thumb. Usually the large red (positive) cable goes from the battery to the large connector on the back of the starter motor. Check the starter motor. There should be one large cable and a block connector with smaller wires.

Convert battery cables from top post to side mount replacement ends?

If all you are doing is changing to a side post battery, just connect all the positive cables from the old pos post to the new pos holder and all the neg ones to the new neg holder. If you've already cut them all off and not sure where each wire goes, all the reds are positive, all the blacks are neg. To make sure use your continuity meter to test. Connect one meter lead to any good clean metal part on the car and test between each black wire in turn, the neg ones will show a circuit, the pos ones will not.

How do i change the positive battery cable and how do i get them?! oh one thing where do i connect the end of the negative battery cable to?!because i have it connected to engine and i read that it spouse...

Would like to know what size of motor and what kind of car but the answer would still be the same.

First, you can get the battery cables from any parts store.

Second, the black/ground wire goes from the battery post (the - negative side) and the other end screws/bolts to the frame of your car or the grounding point like on a Dodge Stratus.

Third, the red/positive wire connects to the battery post (the + positive side) and the other end goes down to your STARTER not the alternator.

The alternator has a wire that attaches to it that is separate that receives power.

Hope this helps!

Have a delcotron alternator ,what to know where no.1 terminal and no.2terminal wire goes it is on my 1946 cj2a jeep my amp hand does not show a charge had alternator checked out and is ok

  • Use a wrench to remove the negative and positive battery cables: They are clearly labeled "+" and "-." Always remove the negative cable first, as this isolates the power to the metal parts of your car. Tuck the cables away from the battery as you don't want them to accidentally touch a battery terminal when you're wiring your alternator.

  • 3

Locate the alternator terminals. There are two: one marked "live," "pos" or "+" and the other marked "neg," "field" or "-."

  • 4

Locate the two cables. The positive (red) cable goes to your battery via a wire loom or harness. The negative (black) cable attaches to a metal part of your car.

  • 5

Check how the cables attach to the alternator terminals. Some connect using eyelets that hook over the terminal and tighten with a bolt; others connect by inserting the wire under the terminal and tightening a bolt.

  • 6

Loosen the two bolts using a suitable-sized wrench or, if the cables connect using eyelets, remove the bolts.

  • 7

Insert the exposed end of the negative (black) cable under the loosened bolt on the negative terminal of the alternator, then tighten the bolt. If the cable has an eyelet, hook it over the terminal and screw the bolt back in place and tighten using a wrench.

  • 8

Insert the exposed end of the positive (red) cable under the loosened bolt on the positive terminal of the alternator, then tighten the bolt. If the cable has an eyelet, hook it over the terminal and screw the bolt back in place and tighten using a wrench.

  • 9

Replace the positive battery cable on the positive battery terminal using a wrench. Replace the negative battery cable on the negative battery terminal.

    RFA 1 Battery Low

Hello: You need to change battery. On the end where it attaches to your key ring you will see a slot. Take a penny insert into the slot it that will cause the two halves to split, the battery is inside. Before you remove the battery note the position it is in when installed. on the battery on one side there is a + (plus) sign. On the other side is a - minus sign. The number (size) of the battery is also stamped on the battery. Replace with the same size battery, it does not have to be by the same manufacturer. When removing and installing new battery be very careful not to touch any of the electronics or damage the parts that hold the battery. make sure all is lined up snap back together and you are good to go.

How do I give a jump start to another veichle?

Your jumper cables are most likely red and black. Locate the positive and negative terminals on your battery, they are marked ( + ) or pos.,that's the red one, and ( - ) or neg. that's the black one. Conect one end of your cables to your battery (doesn't matter which one you do first) make sure you are connecting the other end to the same terminal on the dead battery (that is to say positive to possitive) now do the same with the other cable. There may be a little bit of a spark that's normal when you make the final connection. The danger is in taking them off, do it in the same order that you put them on, if you take both cables off at the dead battery and they touch you are going to be having a bad hair day. the thing that most people don't get is you have to have a good clean convention. If you don't try wiggling the clamp on both batteries to make them dig into the terminals. Also there is a huge difference between someone who left the lights on in parking lot and someone with a dead battery on the side of the interstate. The guy in the parking lot has a dead battery, the guy on the side of the road has a dead battery and a dead alternator, he needs a tow truck, not a jump.
