I have a 2002 Explorer V6 (original owner). Power door locks have stopped working. The feature, when you start driving and the doors automatically lock also stopped working. Remote keypad also does not backlight and does not work, Key fob does not work. Door lock fuse appears to be OK. Also, there is a feature in the car, when you turn off the engine, as long as you do not open the doors, you can still raise and lower the power windows. Now, you can turn off the engine, remove the key, open the doors, and still raise and lower the windows. The electrical system is starting to go bonkers. What could be causing this?
Thanks.
Jerry
Mine just started doing the exact same thing tonight. I disconnected the battery to change a DPFE sensor and when I reconnected I had this problem. I also have auto headlamps and they are not working either. I don't know what is wrong, I checked all the fuses also and everything looks good. I wonder if it is a relay??? I will make sure I respond to you if I find a solution.
Check your fuses under the hood. There is one for Body Security Module (BSM). That was not it for me so I suspect the BSM went bad altogether. Stay tuned....
You should first check your fuses under the hood. There is one for Body Security Module (BSM). If these are OK the module is probably bad. This is what was wrong with mine. I replaced the module and everything worked fine.......except the interior lights would not go off. I had to get the new module reprogrammed (which it said in the instructions and the Ford Workshop Manual, but I thought I would try anyways). It requires both the old and new module for reprogramming. The module costs $120 and is located on the passenger side C-Pillar behind the Trim panel.

I solved my problem by replacing the Central Security Module (early-build 2002 Explorer), located, as you said, on the passenger side C-pillar. I found the replacement CSM at a junk yard for $25. I had to reprogram the key fobs and I added a new code for the keyless entry keypad. Everything works as it should now.
