Check the connections to the motor for the moon roof. It's most likely that the motor has gone out, and will need to be replaced.

Sunroof stuck open, think the switch maybe bad

I have same problem. Below are a couple of suggestions from LincolnOnLine.com on how to close the sunroof manually. The first relates to a '93 and I'm not sure about the second. Use this info at your own risk. If you get a better answer, PLEASE POST IT HERE FOR ME. Thanks. Mort

Here is the text from my 93 Manual. There is an access panel in the rear centre of the headliner if it is the same as my 93.

Manual Operation

To close the sliding panel manually, remove the roof access hole trim panel located at the rear of the moon roof assembly. Remove the motor and bracket assembly as outlined to expose the splined shaft of the moon roof drive gear box. Using a typical corporate door window regulator crank handle properly set on the splined shaft, crank the moon roof panel closed.

Motor

CAUTION:
It is recommended that the battery ground cable be disconnected when removing or installing the moon roof motor assembly.

Removal and Installation

1. Operate glass panel until rear of glass panel is flush with sheet metal surface.

2. Remove motor access cover.

3. Remove two motor retaining screws.

4. Lower motor away from splined motor gear and disconnect electrical connector.

5. To install, reverse Removal procedure and synchronize motor as outlined under Adjustments.

I might be getting a switch in the a.m. If not that remedy doesn't sound too bad. How do I close the moon roof on my 94 Lincoln mark viii (8)? The switch is broken. Please help? I'm lost on this one. No. Replacing the switch, and jumping it doesn't work.

look in the glove box ... there should be a crooked allen (hex) wrench in there...
The switch plate should then be popped off and the allen wrench inserted into the crank hole and when you turn the wrench it will crank the roof glass shut...

The moon roof on my 1996 saturn sl2 not working

I have the same car and had the same problem, when you pull down the head liner you will find the motor for the moon roof. i disconnected the motor so that i could analyze it. i found that the gears in the moon roof motor are made of plastic and most of the gear teeth were chewed off. i disconnected the wireing harness from the motor and left it unplugged, i then pushed the moon roof back into position and tightened the screws to the moon roof. That is the way i left it for the past 2 years, because i was not about to spend the money t fix the motor.
