Check Fuses and Relays, but this has a GEM (general electronics module). You may need and auto-electrician as nothing covers brake lights, but that may be a fault with the brake light switch.

Tail lights are on fuse 15.

I suggest check the location 11, 15AMP in the passenger box, for other fuses box and description check the 2002-Ford-Taurus-Owners-Manual

check these fuses in the passenger compartment fuse box

#17 20A* Cell port
20 Amp fuses are yellow in color.

The fuse is located in the fuse box (smart junction box) below the steering columb. The fuse no. is 2.25 - 20 Amp fuse.

Always use the specific Owner's Manual for the correct Model Year of a Ford or Mercury vehicle.
