WARNING
You must perform the Body Control Module (BCM) theft deterrent relearn procedure after replacement of the ignition lock cylinder. Failure to perform this relearn procedure means the BCM will not function properly. This means the vehicle will not be theft protected by the Passlock system and the engine may not crank or start. GM recommends that this procedure be performed with their Tech 2® or equivalent scan tool. An alternate relearn procedure is given at the end of this procedure.

I just did a post for this not long ago, but here we go again...
Try popping off the little round piece of plastic that is under your column. With your key in the ignition turn it back to the OFF position, or as close as you can get it, and take a small pointy object and stick it in the hole under your dash you should feel it push on something, and maybe hear a click, from there you should be able to completely turn your key to the OFF position.
I hope this helps you out.

Once the battery is dead you will not be able to do any of the functions you mentioned. Have someone jump start the car or have the battery recharged. You will be OK after the battery has been charged.

Hello. I can assist you. The black metal piece that you are referring to is a solenoid which allows the ignition to let go of the key when it is put in park. Remove the screws from under the plastic cover that surrounds the steering column. Next look along the ignition cylinder and you will see a spring loaded tab. Push that in and the cylinder will pull out. Now push in the new one and replace the plastic cover. Thanks for choosing Fixya! REgards, Joe
