It means a fault was detected in one of your emmisions systems. a loose gas cap will turn it on along with a million other things.check to see if cap is on tight give it a couple of turns.it dont hurt it to make the clicking sound when tightening.
if it was loose it will take a while for the light to self eztinguish. it has to have 3 warm up cycles with no leaks from tank to aloww light off
other then the gas cap being loose you will have to have the code pulled at a shop and go from there

You may have a trouble code without the check engine light, but normally the light comes on too.
The code was probably 304 which means cylinder 4 is not producing power. That can be caused by no spark, no fuel, or no compression.

Check engine light came on, within minutes it "powered down" stalled, dies and will not start. What could cause this to happen? Did the turn key off/on to get code and "done" appeared.

Hello
When the service engine soon light a yellow light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

No, I doubt if the spark plugs are the issues. They never fail to fire, they just need repalcing after 60,000 miles of wear.

You have cylinder misfires shown, on several cylinders, as well as crank sensor and cam sensor, codes

You would appear to have timing issues, that effect those sensors.

Most likely your timming belt is worn, and it jumped a couple of teeth
