I just bought a 1976 Chevy with an Open Road camper on it that goes over the cab. It seems that Open Road Campers Inc. does not exist anymore. I don't have a manual for it (the camper) and can't find information on it. There doesn't seem to be any hardware/ tools/ accessories to remove it. How do I take off the camper?

If you are referring to a camper, the 12 volt auto battery powers them. Fully charge the battery first. there is a switch inside the camper to power the motors be sure its turned on. A lot of campers seem to have a problem with poor wire connections and broken wires. clean all connections check for broken wires and check fuses. good luck.

I just looked in the campers world forum and you are not alone. Apparently these are impossible to find, and since the company has gone out of business, you'll have to advertise in some of the magazines and forums for someone who will email you a copy only or make it into a disc for you. Too bad 'cause they are nice rigs.

Any place that sells campers can advise you. I would disconnect the water supply line underneath the camper and open all faucets. This will drain the lines. Pour some antifreeze especially designed for this purpose in the toilet and in all sinks. Don't forget to flush the toilet and pour a little in the tank after you turn the water off. This will prevent the traps from freezing.

I have the same thing but mine is between 45-50 mph. I read about this a while back in a magazine for people that pull campers, the problem exists in all vehicles although its not as noticeable in every thing you ride in. There is a certain "point" at which your speed and engine speed reach, that causes a phenomonon that causes a vibration. Engineers relate it to "harmonics" which is a similar issue but in the electronic field of study. There is nothing you can do for it, and it varies from unnoticeable in some vehicles to driving you insane in my 1989 Mazda B2200. I had an '89 Ford F-150 that did it at 35 mph and a 2001 Dodge Diesel that did it at 45 mph, but those were the only three vehicles I've ever driven and noticed it.

As I recall, your Axiom has a Tow Rating of 5000 pounds -- but check your Owner's Manual to be sure. I have several friends who tow with their Isuzus (using 1st and 2nd Gen model Troopers and Rodeos) and pull pop-up campers, high-profile campers, ATV trailers, etc... There's even even one guy who pulls his Trail Rig (another Isusu) to various off-road events on an 18-foot tandem axle steel frame trailer -- All of them do so without any problem whatsoever.
