Three most likely causes are: #1 You forgot to tighten up all the torque converter to flex plate nuts/bolts. #2 You cracked the flex plate during the transmission change. #3 You forgot to swap one or both of the alignment dowels from the old transmission to the new one during the change. These are hollow dowel pins. They go between the bell housing of the transmission and the engine block. Failure to have both dowels in place will lead to the flex plate cracking [see #2]
The first thing to do is call or better yet stop by, an auto junk yard and ask if there are any major differences that would rule out this swap. They have
parts interchange charts, that can help you in this swap. (they don't sell these charts but they can answer ? you may have) Use as many sensors as
you can from the bad eng. Avoid cutting any wires,
use the old flywheel, for torque conv.+sensor reasons. If the a/c comp. looks different use the old
one. The block and head should have all the same
holes in them for mounting brackets and such.
Hope this helps. Good luck

No, the bottom of the strut does not have the fasteners for the brake lines, the internal stroke (suspension travel) of a strut on an Escort is 1.8 inches longer than the Taurus, also the extended length (suspension height) on the Taurus is 3.37 inches longer than the Escort. Let me know if this helps.
