Ran my sportage out of oil. cleaned out engine

have the alternator bench tested for problem in regulator or rectifier. check and adjust the drive belt. Charge light should go off at at idle and remain off during whole of engine operation
if they come on at idle it means that the alternator is not producing a charge current and needs attention.

Check the coils, there may be a bad coil. That lets moisture in it, and causes the engine to mis fire. God-Bless! Its worth a try!

This could be caused from a few different things, so lets start with the simplest thing first. Since you are certain that there is not a knock in the engine, I would start by changing the oil and substitute a quart of oil and use a can of Seafoam in its place. This will clean the engine and any oil build up that has occurred over the years. I would then recommend changing the oil filter; make sure that you get one that has a check valve in it, so you will not have a dry start. You mentioned that the engine is chattering, and that is not a good sign. This means that parts, probably lifters, are not getting properly lubricated, and that may be the sign of a bad pump. I know that you stated that you have changed it, but, there is a chance that it is faulty. Before you do that, I would recommend that you put a live oil pressure gage on the engine to see what pressure you are holding. The engine should hold 20-40 psi at an idle. The 10 psi that you are getting is not sufficient, and if this goes unresolved, then you are looking at some serious internal engine damage.

The chattering sounds like some thing loose,like a mounting bracket. or the shafts end play is excessive,there can be bearing failure at high mileage in the supercharger, The bearings are lubed by the engine oil while running check for oil leaks in the line to the supercharger.

Clean the temperature sensor wire connector.
Replace the temp sensor.
Check the condition of the sensor wire cut(s) or short onto the engine block.
Monitor the fan operation with the hood open during warm up (0-15 minutes.) It should ran after the engine coolant temp get above 195F +.

Check,clean or change the air filter and breather element.

Most of the time when this happends it has to do with valve train like broken valve spring, or bent valve , or even a bent push rod or colapes lifter, or rocker arm. At any rate i think your problem is in the valve train.
