Sounds like ac compressor is dragging. It might be that rpm is to low also.Step on the accelarator and if you have a tach bring rpm up to 700 to 800 in drive which is were it should run with ac on. With ac off rpm should read around 600 in drive.

How to replace engine coolant temperature sensor

Drain coolant, remove alternator and bracket. Unscrew the sensor from the block after you have disconnected the wiring. Might as well replace your thermostat while your there and no coolant in the system, it's cheap.

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy. I have a P0106 code that has been cleared and again returned. I have replaced the fuel cap and the MAP sensor. What should be the next thing that I look for?

Check the intake manifold for loose or leaking hoses. Also, clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner, WITH the battery disconnected. After done, drive for 5 miles or so.

How to remove the alternator

On a 2004 GMC Envoy xl v6, the alternator has 3 mounting bolts, 2 on top, 1 on bottom. best advice is to disconnect the electrical circuits to the alternator first before removing the mounting bolts. then take off the bottom bolt, followed by the 2 on top. then just slide it out and your done.

My "GMC Envoy 2003 XL SLT 4.2 liter 6 cylinder",check engine light came on.every morning i start the car to warm-up and it's o.k. but then when i put it on drive"It starts to shake when i step on the brake...

First thing to do is to clean the throttle body and throttle plate thoroughly. While performing the cleaning, disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes. This will force the PCM to relearn with a clean throttle body. See if this helps with running and the codes. Also make sure the gas cap is tightened properly.

Service engine light is on

if its a 6 cylinder the sensor is located on driver side behind the alternator .the sensor alone is about 80-100 dollars. but it is difficult to get to if you dont know what you are doing. the shop should charge you 150 to have this done.

Check engine light on - 2003 gmc envoy XL

That code represents a lower than expected reading for temperature (coolant). First thing to do is check your coolant level, as if it is low, then the sensor can not read correctly. Second, you may have a thermostat that is stuck open, allowing the coolant to cool off too much. The sensor should be mounted on top of the engine, near the thermostat housing.
