5 sp man trans. when accelerating, trans hangs up

5 sp man trans. with normal traffic situation accelerating, trans hangs up momentarily from 1st to 2nd or conversely downshifting. Prob is inconsistant. No problem between gears otherwise. at lower speeds (under 20kph/12mph) trans operates normally most often.

your trans seems like it has a mechanical problem that can only be rectified by a rebuild. but perhaps the clutch cable needs adjusting, or in the case of hydrolic assisted, air in the system or low hydrolic fluid.

Sounds like you have a worn syncronizer. unless it gets really bad, you can keep driving like that, be gentle with those shifts and you shouldnt have any problems. changing the fluid may help prolong the life. if it gets bad, the transmission will have to be rebuilt.

2010 Rogue awd hangs in 1st gear sometimes now going down the road rpms climb to5-6 thousand and the car is not going any faster let off and it pulls normal.

hmm sounds like the trans needs a bit of work on done to it as this isnt normal for any trans to hang in first gear like that it seems like as if its having issues shifting in a timely manner due to low oil or pressure plates sticking inside the trans

If the clutch is correctly adjusted, it will start to engage when releasing the clutch pedal at 1 in. off of the floor. When in Heavy traffic shift trans to neutral while at a stop, take your foot off of the clutch pedal to avoid overheating the release bearing

1992 buick LeSabre transmission troubleshooting!

92 Buick lesabre 97000 miles, on slow acceleration, @ 40mph going into 4th gear there is a mild chutter, same @ 50mph going into OD mild chutter and when down shifting from OD to 4th. All is when slow acceleration. When I say slow acceleration, I mean I drive like a older senior citizen when everyone behind me is annoyed I don't just donor and go. When I do romp to accelerate quicker, there is no chutter at all. Fluid is good and at perfect level. Any ideas? Great car just wondering the scoop is

Honda accord exr 1987 automatic trans.

It's hard to understand when you say it feels like a manual shift. Noise? Feel? I do know that the 87 auto trans does have a weak 1st to 2nd shift drum (as explained to me by my mechanic) that makes a grinding, elongated shift under heavy acceleration when it starts to wear. Under normal acceleration, 1st to 2nd shifts were normal (crisp, immediate). Since that day 8 years ago, I've avoided starting off to quickly, and so far have saved myself a tranny overhaul.
