You have to feel from the back of the seat push trough the leather and feel for the detents. You can do one side at a time. Put your hand under the head rest and apply pressure upwards as you push in the detent with the other hand. Its no fun. one you get past both detents it just slides up.

I installed many tv systems when i was a volvo tech.

Volvo xc90 window regulator replacement

You shouldn't have to remove the glass. On most vehicles you can remove the regulator from the bottom of the glass carefully so the glass doesn't drop. Then carefully lower the glass into the door. There are plenty Of YouTube Videos ..even if not for your model vehicle all of the basics are the same.

Dvd won't power on

For Volvo Xc-90 2005, same problem with only one headrest dvd working. Start playing a dvd in the working headrest, point the remote at the non working headrest, press media button. This should switch the input back from auxillary to dvd. Tell your kids to never press the media button:)

Just purchased a 2006 Volvo XC90 /w/ DVD system in headrest and it did not come /w/ a manual or remote. When I press the power button it does not come on. Could someone tell me how to use this feature?

You can only operate the DVD player with the remote. We discovered this on a long car ride, when the remote was left in the garage.............................

How can I remove front row seat headrest?

Most volvo headrest can be removed by releasing the catches which are on the back of the headrest on some models and on the front on others I believe on 960 they are on the back. To release the seat on a 960 look where the shafts should be then follow it down on the back where the seat back top stops then goes in press around that area you should be able to find the catch there pull up on the headrest while releasing the catch you have to do this on both sides. The headrest should come off this also works on 740 and 760 series the volvo 780 is a different story the only way to get the headrest off on that is to disassemble the seat

not really any special tools vill be required.  You will need access to the underside of the car.  And the parts are really expensive.

The headrest in one of the third row seats (XC90)will not fold down and the seat will never lay flat because of it. Can I fix this?

Its pretty tough...the headrest comes as a cassette type and a release cable that runs down the back rest of the 3rd row seat.
