White exhaust is caused by moister i9n the engine. if it smells like burnt coolant it is a coolant leak that can be a faulty head gasket. If the white exhaust is not very heavy and only a faint soke for a few minutes, there is nothing to worry about. Engines when ran and get to operating tempretures (195 degrees) normally burn out all moister. If the engine is ran for a very short time then shut off, moister does set in and will cause this smoke you see

It sounds like the catalytic converter could possibly be almost completely plugged up not allowing the exhaust to leave the engine like it should. It just builds up in the cylinder head and when it gets too much in it built up and there's no where to go, it'll stall the engine. By letting it sit for a few minutes, it gives the exhaust time to find a way out and the car will restart.

I have a 2002 Chevy Impala about a couple months ago it started having a heavy gas smell and also when i start it to let it run in the mornings it has alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and on...

what color is the smoke? sounds like air/fuel ratio is off! that could be a vacuum leak, IF air/fuel is off!
the gauge not working is your sending unit in the gas tank!

Car sputterd and stalled while driving.

ECU is the engine computer and the EGR valve allows exhaust gas to recirculate back into the intake manifold at certain times and is usually vacuum controlled. EGR valves are replaced fairly often because of the high heat from the exhaust. Check for a loose or damaged vacuum hose (or if an electrically controlled valve, look for loose wires, or connector). ECU faults may or may not require replacement of the unit. Have you replaced the fuel filter?
