your ECM may be shot. go to your local Nissan dealer and have them run your VIN number for any campaigns. Your model sentra had a ECM foam campaign where the ECM foam inside of the ECM box gets removed, because of the adhesive that Nissan used to adhere the foam inside of the ECM box. The glue that nissan used is toxic and eats the ECM from the inside. That mey be causing your issues. have the VIN number checked to see if the campaign has been performed/foam removed.

I checked the price a replacement ECM and it was a little outrageous. Have you tried to find a compatible, guaranteed ECM at a nissan salvage. Chedk the input voltage to your ECM to make sure it's getting 12 volts. I was wondering also, if you have eliminated the possibility that the problem lies elsewhere such as the mass airflow sensor or map sensor, throttle position sensor.

Why would a 6 year old vehicle need a new ECM?

There is 1 ecm(electronic control module), 1 tcm(transmission control module), and a few other control units. The ecm is in the engine bay.

The ECM is located in the right rear corner of the engine compartment,its fixed to the firewall

The ECM on my 2002 nissan sentra gxe is located on the left side of the firewall if you're standing in front of the car. It's easy to get to and remove, just a few bolts and a harness. The problem is in finding a replacement. Not many of the rebuilders want to deal with this model as they get a lot of returns. Seems Nissan put a foam liner inside the ecm and even if taken out early there were problems as the glue used to hold the foam caused bad problems with the board in the ecm. There was a recall so if your car wasn't fixed you may get an ecm at no cost.
