You may have gotten a bad switch otherwise just check to make sure it is adjusted properley. If you loosen the bolts there is about a half inch of adjustment on those. The turn signal is a ground issue most likely. You gotta chase down the wires to figure that one out. It may also be a faulty turn signal switch but not very likely

Car would not start. Shifted into nuetral and back to park and it started. Happened again and getting harder. Is there a switch on the shifter?

the neutral safety switch. If the shifter is on the floor then the switch is either on the transmission itself or under the console on the shifter. If the shifter is on the steering column then that's where it should be, once again unless its on the transmission. Your switch is faulty theres no fix other than replacement.

What is a neutral safety switch?

The Neutral Safety switch monitors the position of your gear selector lever and either interrupts or allows the starting circuit in your car or truck to do its job. On newer vehicles it may also monitor the position of the brake pedal to make sure that the vehicle is in park or neutral AND that your foot is on the brake.

If your vehicle is equipped with a neutral safety switch, it should NOT start UNLESS the transmission is in Neutral or Park. On the other hand your vehicle SHOULD start when it is in Neutral or Park. If your car will start in Neutral but not in Park, you have a bad switch. Also, if your car or truck will only start by turning the key to the start position and wiggling the gear selector lever, your neutral safty switch is in need of replacement.

The nuetral safety switch is usually found near the gear shifter. If your car has the gear shift on the column, then the neutral safety switch is usully mounted on the steering column near the brake pedal. On floor mount or console mount vehicles you will find the nuetral safety switch mounted near or on the shifter mechanism.

Sometimes often enough when in park the starter wont start. Have to wiggle the floor gearf shifter then it may start. It will start in nuetral. Need Help

you need to either replace the neutral safety switch, or it may just be out of adjustment, let me know what kind of truck ( year, make, model ) and i can look up the adjustment and location of the switch.

My 2001 dodge durango will run, but once i park it it wont start again. If i play around with the shifter the truck will start, What is wrong with it?

Is this an Automatic transmission? If it is, and what is happening is that when you turn the key the starter will not engage, then you play with the shifter nob, and then it will start, then it is the
NUETRAL SAFETY SWITCH.

This is there to ensure that you cannot start the car in a gear, and will only start in either Park, or Nuetral. They go bad, just like anything else. Try starting the car with the gear-shifter in the NUETRAL position. I bet it will start.

Where the switch is located on this car, I am not sure, but it is not an expensive fix.

97elantra shifter stuck in park but when useing the override button it will move but car takes off in drive

Sounds like to me you may need to have the nuetral safety switch adjusted or replaced. This switch will allow a vehicle to start only if the gear shifter is in the park or nuetral position if it starts in any other gear it may need to be adjusted or replaced hope this helps you.

1995 cherokee 4wd trouble starting must move gear shifter several times before it will start

try starting it in nuetral. if it starts everytime then the shifting switch is going out. If nothing changes then maybe the ignition switch is going bad and just by chance it starts by wiggling the shifter.
If this is a manual trans maybe the nuetral safety switch on the clutch pedal is going out.

2005 pontiac key won't start car

If you have a center console shifter make absolutely positve the gear select is all the way up into PARK, even the slightest thing in the way can cause the key to lock you from starting vehicle, if a coin or other object fell down into the slot of the shifter it could effect it. If you try to start in Nuetral place foot on the brake first, shift into Nuetral and try to start. The start/Nuetral safety switch could be bad as well, but hopefully it is something as simple as a penny in the way. wiggle shift lever all the way into park. I had a guest the other day who could not get her key out of the car, and she had a coke from wendys in the cup holder, the shift lever would not go all the way home by quarter of an inch, as soon as I moved the cup forward the shift lever fell into place on its own and the key came right out.
