Levi, If you have the same climate control, then below is a link to a repair video for your climate control. Sorry, this is the part 3 video, look a the side to find the part 2 video and watch it first.
My 2000 has a similar situation, but mine only has half of the display out. I havent attempted a fix on mine yet, but there are apparently some resistors inside of the unit that become de soldered from the board. They may need to be replaced and soldered in, or just clean up the joints and resolder them. Good luck!
is it a canadian car?...I have a canadian regal..if i unplug the instrument cluster, guess what..my climate control changes from Celcius to Farenheight. When i plug it back in...it goes back to canadian eh..so.im thinking you need a US instrument cluster (ie..miles not kilometers).to make the climate control stay in farenheight....awaiting your feedback
I have a 99 Buick Regal and it too dies out, but only when I use my turn signals. Sometimes, when trying to start the car...the dash lights would flicker and you can hear some sort of electrical ticking sound. As of today, my car will not start (5/24/09) it hadn't turned over since yesterday. After a process of elimination and searching the net, I think I need a new ignition switch. You may need one as well.
This is a chronic problem on the LCD display for Buick Century/Regal cars with the climate control HVAC system.
The problem is most often some of the resistors on the PCB will get a "cold solder" joint and need to be fixed by remelting the solder and adding a bit more fresh solder. Remove the unit from your dash and inspect all the solder joints. Chances are you'll see one of them that is "loose."
