Try to put the transmission in neutral and start it, this will eliminate the problem from the neutral safety switch.
if the car still won't start then go to the starter with a test light
connect the test light to a good ground or negative post on battery
touch the light on the small wire on the starter and have some one try to start the engine
if the light lits then the starter is bad
if the light is not lit then the ignition switch
You need to replace your starter solenoid.
Many people just go buy a new starter when a new solenoid is all they actually need. These are usually located on the starter itself, and disassembly/replacement is quite self explanatory.
Make sure your battery cables R clean first
