My abs light just started coming on last week on my 2003 Mazda Tribute. When I start it up, it'll come on and then off like it's supposed to do. After I've driven for about ten - fifteen minutes, it'll come on and stay on until I shut the vehicle off. Had it tested at Advanced Auto and no codes showed up. He suggested that it might be dirty where the abs sensor is located. Can that be done easily or do I need to take to the shop for them to clean the sensor? Thanks!

The sensors are mounted at each wheel. wheel removal is probably not necessary. get under the car and look where the axle meets the wheel. you should see a steel ring mounted around the axle with teeth on it like a gear. mounted in that area is the speed sensor. there will be a wire attached to it. with sensor cleaner, spray each sensor and clean with a small brush. spray again.

How to turn abs & emergency brake light off on a 2002 mazda tribute

If the ABS light is on, that means there's a trouble code stored in the computer. If you clear the code but don't fix the problem, the light will just come on again. You have to fix the problem

2008 mazda tribute abs and all wheel problem when you start the vehicle all lights are out after computer check but drive 1 km abs lights and all wheel lights comes back on

That's telling us that the abs is passing the self check when you turn on the key. When th e light comes on after you start moving it usually means that a sensor is not sending a single or a signal is messed up. A scan tool will tell you wich wheel to focus on. It is fairly common for the exciter rings on the front drive axles to break and cause this code. It wouldn't hurt to inspect these for crackps or misalignment. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Had new front brake pads and rotors installed last week. Get grinding noise in reverse when first starting out then it goes away. ABS light and 4 wheel drive light come on and flash. Brakes work fine, what...

First have the brakes checked, the abs and 4wd lights need to be checked, this is done with a scan tool, the computer stores codes telling you what part of what system has failed this will help in finding the problem, the noise my be a bad wheel bearing and has gotten bad to the point it has damaged the abs sensor and has made the lights come on , this is a guess you will need to have the computer scanned to get the codes. hope this helps, good luck.

The ABS light on my 2003 Mazda Tribute just came on; it has never done this before.

it may be a bad abs sensor. i would go to a mechanic that has a dignostic machine. it will tell you if sensor is bad or dirty or if the wire has come disconnected

2003 Mazda Tribute died in the middle of traffic!!

Take your car to any Autozone or such stores for a free Trouble code. It could be a sensor problem. It is the best way to start troubleshooting for sensor problems. post the code here after taking it. Ask the person to give you the p0???. Code.

Mazda tribute abs fault. abs light comes on & of when starting all ok. does not come on when driving, but you can feel the abs coming on when it shouldn't, intermittent. no fault codes, no abs light on...

These vehicles have a recall on the ABS system for faulty wiring. You may want to check with your local dealer to see if your vehicle is included.
