You cannot shut it off, If was that easy a thief could steal it.

You need to get the code and fix the problem. Most likely the problem is the key tumbler failed. If this is the case the code would say something like could not reconize key

Ran out of gas. filled, now it won't start.

Sounds like you activated the anti-theft alarm somehow.
I would check the owners manual on how to disarm it.

89 firebird anti theft code won't let car start

If code 53 involves the PASS system for your car, the chip in the key has failed, or the sensor in the lock cylinder, or the control module.
The anti-theft system disables the starter and the fuel injectors. You could bypass those circuits to get the car started.

My battery cable came undone and now my car wont start i know it has something to do with my anti theft system how do i reset it or whatever i just need to get my car started.

Hello Jaclyn...Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle (valet)
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition key, press and hold in the button (little spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride the system, and only the keyless entry part, if installed, would still be operating....The LED light in the dash should also go on solid....At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed it would now be opened, and the engine would turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to user mode to see if this was corrected...i hope this information is helpful...Happy Holidays.

98 golf anti theft problem

Put the key in the driver door lock (or the trunk lock if you don't trust the driver's door- quite often on a vehicle of this age the wires break in the door and it won't electrically de-activate the alarm due to the broken wires)
Disconnect the battery.
Turn the key to the unlock position (toward the front of the car if using the driver or passenger doors) and release it- it will go back to centered, but will retain slack in the forward direction
Then reconnect the battery. You may get one beep out of the alarm horn. If it beeps continually, turn the key to unlock again.
As long as the alarm is de-activated it will not prevent the car from starting. If you are still having a problem it is not alarm related.

Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help

Anti theft dash light is blinking on my 1998 rodeo and will not start now. Tried unhooking battery to reset, but no luck. Will not crank from jumping off either. Battery is good, all lights and the radio...

I'm assuming its an original alarm or system that came from factory or dealer. When the light blinks is because the alarm is activated. Look underneath the radio the alarm brain might be there. There will be a label on it saying alarm or security system etc. Disconnect the harness to it and try operating your vehicle.
