P0300 is a generic code to indicate multiple misfires throughout your engine. You do have a 6 cylinder engine and you may have to replace all 6 spark plugs and check all the spark plug wires. The other thing to keep in mind also is, the fuel injectors could be dirty or the fuel pressure may be low causing the misfire. Start with the simple and recheck the spark plug wires and try to replace the remaining 3 spark plugs that was not replaced. Good luck and hope you get your car running 100%, keep me posted and thank you for using Fixya.
Recheck your firing order:
1998 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight 3.8 liter V-6 VIN "K"
Firing order: 1-6-5-4-3-2
Cylinder # from passenger to driver, radiator side: 1-3-5
Cylinder # from passenger to driver, firewall side : 2-4-6
Coils from radiator to firewall: 1-4 / 5-2 / 3-6
The only thing left to check would be the ICM (ignition Control Module) which is what the Coils sit on top of. Inspect for any signs of corrosion or damage to the wire harness to the ICM and then have the ICM check at Auto Zone or Parts Source. Keep up the good work and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your car running 100% again soon.

Check 4 a bad wire or a vaccume leek.
Po300 is a random misfire, with the engine running and warm ,pull the plug wires off one at a time to see if there is a difference in the way the engine runs.if there is no difference replace that wire and continue on. If there is no difference in any of the wires. Then u have a vaccume leek somewhere, they can be very hard to find.A easier way to find a leek is spraw something flammible around the engine while running.Brake cleaner or carb cleaner works good 4 that.If the engine revs up when u spray it, there is a vaccume leek their .
nothing will happen, you spray it speratcally on different places on the top of the motor, just a quick shot,if the engine revs thats where your leek is.it wont even flame up.
If it was your o2 sensor it would give u a code.Is your engine light on.Did u have the code erased after u replaced everything.
That is highly possible,it is 12 years old.The only way you can find out is take it off.Hopefully it has bolts on it and not welded.

I already replace 3 coils, 6 spark plugs, 6 plug wires, radiator, top hose, bottom hose, thermostat, air filter and also used fuel injector clearner in gas tank against my own willingness. Any other suggestions?
I checked for a vacuum leak, replace all plugs, wires, coils, radiator, top hose, bottom hose, thermostat. any other suggestions
ok i don't think i have the guts to spray something flamable over a running car engine. that just scares me. what exactly would happen? is there any other way? I think I may have got them all checked. How many are there?
k there is no problem with the ICM. I was told on here to spray something flameable like break cleaner or carb cleaner around the a running engine to check for vacuum leaks. This seems a little crazy to me. any suggestions? could it be an o2 sensor?
no o2 sensor code. just the po300. i havent had the code cleared yet cause it is still running very badly. if i replaced the right part wont the car run properly without the code being erased? the check engine light is on and blinking. what about the cad converter? god i hope not
try ur conrtrol module thay go you can them check
thay go bad
