On the the 86 year, they changed to the fuel injected in 86.5,Do you have a carburetor?I have a 85 Nissan service manual I got from the dealer. The 85 and 86 with the carburetor are the same,I have a 85 4x4 model, but I have installed a Weber carb. and I have a wiring diagram.
Depends on what needs wiring, id find a haynes manual in paper or digital form and find out, usually they have all the wiring info youd need but it really depends on what your wiring up.
Usually under the dash there is a fuse, but please fix the short in the wire before you replace the fuse. Otherwise it will continue to short out. Good luck.
You need to adjust the automatic choke. Your choke may not be opening fully. There is a fast idle cam linked to the choke to keep the throttle open more until the engine is warm. The idle mixture screw is part 37 in the picture, but get the choke adjusted right first, and you may not have to adjust the mixture screw. See adjustment procedures at link beloe.
See if you can find a Haynes manual ISBN 1 56392 410 2 This covers the 1980 through 1997 models. There are several different hose diagrams depending on the version you have. There is a California model, a federal model, and a high altitude model.
The hose diagrams are in section 6, around page three in the book I have.
