I need to replace the cam front oil seal how do i get the cam gear off to replace the seal

so any testing done with the fuel system throttle body --fuel delivery -pressure--etc---trans check ---any pending or active codes

on the actual front diffr, pinion or the front transfer case seal
the front seal is like the rear.
its a crush cage.
that means when you remove the pinion yoke/flange big bolt
the crash cage is destroyed. also wrecking pinion gear to ring gear back lash..oops.. big big mess-up there...$$$$$$
and such cage must be replaced.

i bet that oil on the ground does not small at all like the nasty stink of hypoid GL5 gear lube. I BET

all leak, for that reason alone, on all 1990s era
next is cam seal
crank seal
pan seal (or pan is rusted thru as many see (today)
oil pump seal
and gawd forbid the rear main seal , engine.

why not ask your mechanic to sniff that oil first and save a fortune

to replace this seal, remove the carrier first
then take it to a shop that can rework the carrier
the correct way.

You have to take apart entire front of your engine and take timing belt off, so your best bet is to replace water pump, all pulleys, timing belt and all oil seals in one shot.

Remove everything from the front of the engine. Remove the timing belt tensioner, remove the belt, remove the cam gears, replace the seals. The seals have to be pryed out. Be careful not to scar up the cams. You need a manual for this. Timing is critical. I would replace all the timing components and the water pump while I was in there. You only want to do this one time.

oil seal failure is the main killer of rubber timing belts . Oil can come from the crankshaft seal --the cam shaft seal/s and the hydraulic belt adjuster.. So if you have the front off and am replacing the timing belt then it is fools economy not to replace the seals and any idler pulleys at the same time.

lined up all the timing marks before you do anything. get a new timing belt as the old one is contaminated with oil and will fail very soon. When you pull the belt off it will be of utmost importance that you do not rotate the cam shaft at all or you will bend valves. so use something to lock the cam gear while you undo and nuts on the shaft or while removing the gear

Cleaning your throttle body is irrelevent to the oil leak behind the timing cover. There are 5 seals that can leak behind the 2000 accord timing cover, the oil pump, crank seal, cam seal, and the 2 balancer seals. Most of the time its the front balancer seal that has popped out and will need to be replace and have and retaining kit install. Its actually very common on that engine. I highly recommend taking it to a professional to get repaired because timing the 2 balancer gears with the cam and crank is very tricky even for the mechanically inclined. Since the timing belt and the balancer belt has to come off and is probably soaked in oil, I recommend replacing those as well.

The timing cover itself does not seal any oil from leaking. It is just a cover to prevent debris from getting into the timing belt and ruining it.

To find the oil leak you will need to remove the timing cover and inspect the seals behind the cam gear, crank gear, and oil pump drive gear, and the oil pump to block seal. The most common leaks on these are the cam gear.

This sounds like the crank seal, the engine doesnt have to be removed, in order to get to seal is like replacing the ttiming belt, and once in the timing belt i would replace the crank and cam seals, also do the timing belt, and maybe the waterpump, you will need to remove the crank pulley and then the timing covers then align timing marks for timing belt before ou remove it, with timing belt off the crank pulley then slides off the crankshaft and the seal is behind it, the cam shaft gear unbolts and the seal is behind the gear, once the gears are off then you will be able to remove the seals from the engine,heres a few diagrams to help. good luck and i hope this is helpful,

Replacing the cam seal is really more time consuming than difficult. The EJ-25 motor requires the removal of front covers, timing belt, and the timing gear for the cam that needs replaced. The seal can be replaced without removing the valve cover or cam. The installation is very important on setting the cam timing. Good luck and have a great day.
