I have a 1998 GMC Safari van in which the cruise control has quit. It didn't go all at once. It would work intermittently. Sometimes going 5 miles or so and then shutting off and then after another few miles, it would set again. This sounds to me like something getting hot. Is there a circuit breaker for the cruise control...or?
I can't seem to find a good schematic/diagram for the unit. Driving me nuts! I don't want to have to buy a whole new module if there is a simple fix.
Anyone?
No vacuum lines on this unit. All electronic. I replaced the cruise control unit with a known good used one from a salvage. Still not working. Won't engage at all. Read my orignal post.

Mine did the same and I found it by knowing that they make bad connectors. find the little black box that is hidden under the dash by drivers right knee and try disconnecting and the pins get crushed down and make intermitting contact. get small screwdriver and bend them back out and it will make great contact and work.

What exactly is it doing or not doing for that matter. Check vacuum lines going to the unit and see if you have any broken hoses. I'll try to get a schematic to you. It's best if you give me your email address so I can send it to you.
