I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I had to remove the whole knuckle and hub assembly and take it to a machine shop to seperate them both. They used a shop press to pop it out. Hope this helps!

I'm trying to remove the axle nut on my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500. I can't remember if they are left or right hand threads. Any suggestions? I'm working alone on this issue, trying to get to the wheel hub...

sould be standard left to loosen,, make sure you soak it with PB blaster or Kroil,, I've spun the nuts, before(plow trucks) and had to buy the stub shaft(dealer only $$$) and new U joints,, Keep soaking it!!! Hub bearings are pricey also,, good luck,, You will have to use the jaws to pull it off, and the bolts on the back side, soak those,, I ve separated the hubs before, and then i ve had some come off easy,, Good luck,, total fix $350-$1200 per side. keep soaking, is all i'm saying...

On my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 2WD, I just found out that I have to change the front hubs if I want to replace the front wheel bearings. How insane is that! What can I do to have a front hub that I can...

buy an older truck to answer question all newer model vehicles have gone to a hub/flange bearing assembly these bearing setups handle loads without or very minimum variance, when you go into a cornering situation these bearing setups give you a steady and consistent track thus a better handling vehicle now instead of cleaning and repacing tose old cone and race style bearings you just unbolt hub assembly and any related abs sensors and bolt on new

Its more then likely a wheel bearing. Try taking it down the highway and turning left and right erratically. Almost like a swerve. If you hear the noise I would put money down on the wheel bearing.

THE WHEEL BEARING HUB ASSEMBLY SHOULD COME WITH THE ABS ON YHE HUB , AT LEAST ALL THE ONES I'VE SEEN ARE LIKE THAT. I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE HUB TO TELL YOU MORE BUT RAM 2500 HAS INBOARD AND OUTBOARD BEARINGS THAT CAN BE REPLACED WITH OUT BUYING THE WHOLE HUB

Right front wheel bearing needs replacing,I see where the 2006 model is recalled for this problem, not the 2005?

Not sure if recall for 2005 models, I have one and the front bearings are packed in a hub, you have to remove the wheel, caliper and base and behind the hub theres 3 5/8" bolts, remove them and you will have a complete assembly removed.
