Your oil is thinning out too much. Lucas oil additive would be a great thing for this or an oil change with a little heavier weight oil The other cause of this could be piston slap from low grade fuels.

does it have the 4.0L motor ? if so open the hood stand off to the side where the exhaust bots to the head and have some one rev it up quick if its coming fron under the hood by the engine the exhaust manifol is cracked. The 4.0L jeeps have had lots of problems with this.

Check the condition of the tranny oil on the dipstick. If it's black and smelly, the tranny clutches might be worn out. Make sure you have enough fluid in there first. Check the fluid with the car engine running and the tranny in park. The level should be between the 2 marks.
