More and more newer vehicles wont have a radiator cap the only way on some is through the resivoir these units are usually(or supposed to be) self- bleeding also. and its not uncommon for the sensor to go bad and show its empty even though its full there genrally not to bad to change either usually easiest if the resivoir is removed hope this helps

Why does my 2001 Chevy Silverado Low Coolant light keep coming on? I don't see any leaks or anti freeze in the oil. It doesn't over heat ever and there is plenty of heat in the cab during the winter

Sensor in the fill tank is probably bad .
LOW COOLANT
The IPC illuminates the LOW COOLANT indicator in the message center when the IPC detects a low coolant level condition from the PCM. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the coolant level.
Coolant Level Control (If Equipped)
The engine cooling system contains an engine coolant level switch to alert the driver in the event of a coolant loss. The powertrain control module (PCM) sends out a coolant loss signal over the coolant level switch signal circuit. When the engine coolant level switch reads a low coolant level in the fill tank, the switch opens. The message center receives its power from engine wiring harness junction block on the battery positive voltage circuit. Ground is provided by the ground circuits via the body wiring harness junction block and the engine wiring harness junction block. The cluster receives the class 2 message from the PCM indicating Low Coolant and displays the LOW COOLANT LEVEL message on the driver information center (DIC).

Is the fill tank full ?

My early wRning light for low radiator fluid comes on at the start turn on my ignition, but it goes away shortly after. I bought 50/50 and filled the coolant reservoir to the full line. But the light still...

The CHECK COOLANT indicator illuminates when the coolant level is low in the coolant recovery reservoir. The low coolant level switch is probably in or on the coolant reservoir !

Engine is too hot, water circulation n radiator okay.

Check the coolant reservoir tank and fill if needed. Most modern cars have a plastic reservoir of coolant connected to the top of the radiator. This will allow you to see if your coolant is low. Many have marks indicating the proper level of coolant when the engine is hot. Check to see if the coolant is at that level.
Add coolant (or water, in a pinch) to your reservoir to the full/hot line. On most cars, you can add liquid to your reservoir even if the car is hot. Check the owner's manual to be sure, or wait for the car to cool before opening.
If your car only has a radiator and no coolant reservoir, you must wait for it to cool before checking the level of coolant.

How do i remove engine coolant cap on 2001 cadillac dhs

WAIT UNTIL YOUR ENGINE IS COLD,YOUR RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP IS LOCATED ON THE COOLANT OVER FLOW RESERVOIR, THATS WHERE YOU ADD COOLANT WHEN COOLANT LOW,YOU POUR COOLANT IN THE OVER FLOW RESERVOIR UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL REMAIN AT FULL COLD MARK DONT OVER FILL OVER FLOW RESERVOIR, WHEN COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING WHEN ADDING COOLANT AND COOLANT LEVEL STAY AT COLD MARK ON THE RESERVOIR YOU RADIATOR HAS THE CORRECT COOLANT LEVEL IF COOLANT LEVEL KEEP DROPPING CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND RADIATOR AND THE TOP AND BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSES, LOOK FOR COOLANT LEAK AT WATER PUMP GASKET OR SEAL OR LEAK AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IF YES REPLACE WATER PUMP.

I am getting message "Coolant low". My sister

Welcome to Fixya

You need to add few ounces of coolant to the reservoir. The reservoir is located under the hood. It is a white plastic that has liquid in it. Please see picture below of the coolant reservoir.

Coolant Light is on even when its to the full line, not overheating but i am loosing coolant overnight and have to replace it

You say "when it's to the full line". If you are referring to the plastic coolant reservoir, that is not an indication of how much coolant is in the radiator. You must remove the radiator cap to check the coolant level and too add coolant. If you are pouring coolant into the reservoir, and the radiator is low, then the coolant in the reservoir is probably being pulled into the radiator after you have driven the vehicle. That doesn't mean you are losing antifreeze. It just means you need to put antifreeze in the radiator.

The light came on looks like a pipe of some sort and the screen keeps saying coolant low.

I don't know what the 'pipe' means but if the coolant low screen comes up, I would add some coolant (50/50 concentration coolant to water) to the overflow reservoir or to the radiator, whichever is easier for you.

If it is a false coolant low indicator, then I wouldn't worry about it unless the engine overheats or runs too hot.

Good luck on this repair.

How to check the coolant level

There is a coolant reservoir that is located under the hood. There will be a indicator on the side of it saying full when cold or hot. Fill a 50/50 mixture to the level depending on the vehicle engine temp.

Add coolant 2002 s class

When engine cold , find coolant reservoir , usualy of white or yellowish container with black top and cap.
It has marks on it FULL and LOW.
Fill it up to FULL level and you done.
If it does'n have any coolant in there , then fill it up and run the engine for few minuts with open reservoir cap. Keep filling it up if level goes down , once it's stop or start to going up, close the cap and drive it around the block ,cause they have self bleeding cooling system.

Where do i refill coolant? message reading low engine coolant.

please rate, thx Coolant Recovery System NOTE: When the water thermostat (8575) is closed, there is no flow through the radiator coolant recovery reservoir (8A080).

Trapped air in the cooling system must be removed. A pressurized radiator coolant recovery reservoir system is used which continuously separates the air from the cooling system.
  • When the water thermostat is open, coolant flows through the small hose from the top of the radiator outlet tank to the radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
  • The radiator coolant recovery reservoir separates any trapped air from the coolant and replenishes the system through its radiator coolant recovery hose to the water thermostat housing.
  • The radiator coolant recovery reservoir serves as the location for:
    • service fill
    • coolant expansion during warm-up
    • system pressurization from the pressure relief cap and
    • air separation during operation
  • The radiator coolant recovery reservoir is designed to have approximately 0.5-1 liter (0.53-1.06 quarts) of air when cold to allow for coolant expansion.
