My son has 96 chevy blazer and it won't start.Seems like only when cold and damp.He lives in another state so I can't get there to help. He is 17 and don't know much about cars. Please help.
When you say it doesn't start...Does it crank over? Does it need a jump??
Assuming that it cranks, but doesn't start...
If it's a moisture problem there could be a problem with the distributor cap. If there's a crack in it, or it it just isn't sealed well enough. It'll crank-n-crank-n... Until it's warm for a day or so. I just went through the procedure on how to replace it for the novice, same vehicle. Take a look at that. In the interim there's a spray "wire dryer" that might help, or he could spray some WD-40 on the cap.
Another way to check is to wait until it gets dark and get a helper. One person cranks the engine, the other looks at the cap and wires. If there's any sparks from the wires, or a crack in the cap, it's a lot easier to see.
