What should it cost to replace a heater core in a 1997 Land Cruiser

varies by series and what is used in your country, HVAC setups are not a world wide constant , nor are parts costs or labor.
why not diagnosis it.??????
1: is engine coolant NOT at 180F, (scan it or pyro gun it) dead simple
if car has a core water valve it must be open and flowing.
2: blow fan is dead, (on high must work)
3: air flow through core is not flowing.

if the core is back flushed, like it should be ever 2years then its
not packed up, remove hoses back flush it. does it flow
yes, good, its not bad (if not leaking incab)
no, its packed up, so blast it some more with a water hose.
now its fixed. simple huh and not removing it.
now #3
all above is good but #3
air flow, so move all the damper by hand , got heat now?
if yes, you just discovered why. bad damper controls'
the FSM covers in details how , for damper. read it.
in usa its also at alldata.com read it. read the damper sections .

Coolant leaking onto passenger floor well after using fan and heater.1999 Toyota Landcruiser, 6cyl petrol. Does this suggest a ruptured heater core? Will this mean getting in behind the dash?

yes and yes. sorry.
as you are probably aware of it is difficult to get to heater cores. if you are able to take it to someone that can do a pressure test on the cooling system they should be able to tell you for sure where the leak is coming from

I have a 2001 land cruiser gxl it leaks water from the passanger side floor heater outlet. i have cleaned the tube from the airconditioner that exits at the firewall but it still leaks water out the heater...

It may be the heater core, but if it is just water though you may need to remove the wipers and the cover for the wiper motor to see if there is a piece of rubber molding that has moved out of place.

Have ford f150 1996 wont switch to heat from cold replaced switch already

96' or 97' it makes a big difference. 96' models are very simple if you have a basic understanding of automotive work and some basic tools. remove the glove box, the heater core is located behind a panel just inside and below the glove box hole. first remove the plastic panel but not the heater core, to the left of the heater core inside the box is the blend door that separates the heater and A/C cores. this door is often obstructed by pens, pencils, or plastic junk that have fallen down into the defrost vents on top of the dash and landed in the box. something like this will stop the blend door from being able to close the A/C core off from the vents allowing cold air in. if you have big hands like mine you may need a woman or teenager to reach into the box and check for debris but you can see the door open and close when you turn the switch so you know where to check. if you have a 97' model the blend door actuator is electric and usually not accessible without removing the dash and heater/A/C box from the firewall. good luck

The heater motor works but it is not blowing hot air

Could be a couple of things, low on coolant, controll valve to heater core ( allows coolant to run into the heater core for heat) not opening, malfunctioning thermostat.

Coolant leaking at back of engine, could it be the heater core

the heater core leaks inside the car, it is either a hose or a core plug.

Does my 1997 toyota land cruiser have a heater core?

Check with Toyota Parts. I'm sure there is one, but it is unavailable at a retail parts store. Heater cores are pretty much as necessary as the four tires on the outside are. My advice would be to remove the core and check the hose clamps or connections for other issues. You want to be sure that the leak is in the core and not in one of the hose connections. I think that is odd that your driver side floor is wet and not the passenger side. Open the hood and look for coolant hoses attached to the firewall (the sheet metal between your dash and the motor) and see if they are on the driver side or the passenger side.
