I got a 2005 cadillac sts it star and run and when i shut off the engine i wait like 10 minutes and the battery drains and i cant star it anymore they test the battery and shows good even the alternator is good,help

Hello. Your car might have a 'cracked' vacuum hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator. If that's the case, the engine will 'flood' and won't start. It can also be the fuel pressure regulator itself. One more thing: if the torque converter is malfunctioning, that will stop the engine as soon as it is put in any drive gear. Unhook your battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect and relearn your auto down windows and that should take care of it

Ok first buy a Chiltions book for your car it will give you pictures and all the important info like what kind of transmission fluid you need, when to change your filters etc. NO your car should not be running wile changing the fluid! And don't get under it wile it's hot let is sit for an hour before you get under it and touch things if you aren't sure what you are touching there are parts that can burn you badly !! The star screws are called tork screws and take tork drivers to get them out. With a Chilitions and some prep work you can do it!

If the check engine light is on, there is a problem that the computer has detected and it needs to be fixed first. Once the proper repair(s) have been made you can use a code reader that has the ability to "reset" the light. You could also just disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. If the problem hasen't been fixed the light will come back on.

charge the battery with a charger. newer vehicles with security systems will drain batteries when the vehicle has not been used for extended periods of time especially in cold weather.

If the Battery's connector voltage with running engine, is 13.3 volts than you may have a charging system problem. If alternator and voltage regulator works properly, then with running engine, you have to read 13.8 up to 14.2 volts. Make sure to use a digital multimeter.

wait 10 minutes after you shut the car off - then remove the negative side of the battery - wait 30 minutes then reinstall and run the car 30 minutes.
If your cooling fluid is full and other cooling systems are in place and working - you should be fine.

The fan on your cooling system is made to continue to run once the engine is shut down if it is running a little [ or a lot] hot. So don't panic if it runs 5 minutes after you shut the car off.

Leave key in ignition and turn to ON (do not start) Leave in on position for exactly 10 minutes. After 10 minutes is up and your anti-theft light is off, then immediately start the car.
Sometimes the key also need to be reprogrammed for the car.
insert the key and turn the key to "on". The DIC will say "Remove Key, Starting Disabled", and the security light will remain on.

approx. 10 minutes later. Remove the key. wait 10 seconds and repeat this another two times, for a total of 30 minutes "key-in" time.

Now insert your key and start the engine.

To learn additional keys:
Start the engine up with a working key. Shut the engine off, and within 10 seconds, insert the next key you want to learn and turn it to "ON". When the security light goes out, that key is programmed. Repeat for the next key, up to 10 keys can be programmed per car.

would not recomend using aftermarket. U probably cant find on anywas. I dont think cadilac would have licenced anyone to produce it for aftermarket. Go to the dealer and fork over the cash.
