Oil capacity will be in your owners manual, should be marked for a drain and fill and for a drain and fill WITH filter change. as to the oil grade. seasonal temperatures mean different grades, generally newer cars (ie 1998 or newer) generally just like a 5W-30, i usually go with a 10W-30 though anyways (no cost difference usually). your manual will also tell you what size filter you need. ok, first you should loosen the filler cap on top first just so we get airflow in the block. on the bottom of the engine is the oilpan, it will have bolts all around the edge of it (dont touch these) and one right on the bottom of it, sometimes just off to one side, put your catchpan under this bolt and remove the bolt, the oil will now come out (make sure your pan can hold at least 10 litres as some engines can hold ALOT of oil. using your oil filter wrench, remove the oil filter (cylinder shaped usually near the oil pan). careful since it will also be full of oil. once everything is drained. replace the plug on the oil pan (do NOT forget the gasket if your plug has one). using fresh oil, take your finger dip it into fresh oil and run it along the rubber gasket on your new oil filter and screw it on BY HAND till it feels snug, then go 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn more. down the filler cap ontop pour in 3/4 of the capacity of fresh oil that is stated in your owners manual, let it sit for 30sec-1min and check your dipstick 2 times for an accurate read. continue filling and checking till you meet your full mark on the dipstick keeping in mind that once the level gets onto the stick 1 litre can make the difference between a low and full level read. once you reach full, close the filler cap, run the engine for 1 minute, shut it off and check the level 2 times again, it should have gone down slightly since the filter is now full aswell, check and fill to full mark again and you are done. be sure to dispose of your used oil and filter in a safe way, most automobile service centers can take the used oil and filter and dispose of it for you safely.

Idle rpms to high

it is all the throttle position sensors. look for disconnected wires, anything that you forgot to put back on, reconnect, etc. maybe unclick them and reclick them to make sure they are connected properly. I don't know what kind of oil change you did but don't do it again, lol!!! could be unrelated failure of TPS as well.

1985 B reg T3 Transporter 1.6 Diesel LHD

Does anyone know if it is possible to put a bigger engine in the T3 as at the moment we have a 1.6 not turbo diesel and we can only do 90 kmh . we thought that maybe another engine and a five speed gearbox but which one will go straight in and if we have to adjust anything what would we have to change to get a bigger engine in. I don't suppose there is any chance of putting a turbo diesel engine straight in? Also why do you not have T3 1985 listed > I had to put this under 1986,

Anyway we managed to tow the T3 1985 camper to a garage and the problem isn't that bad .
Because the belt was slipping it wasn't turning the pully fast enough to cool the engine which is also why the rev counter was eratic apparently.
We had a small hole in the top of the expansion tank which is where the water came from (which will be replaced) and apparently the bit of oil had come from what looked like the flywheel casing anyway the mechanic got some long nosed pliers and pulled out a plastic tube from it (behind the line of injectors ) he seems to think that somthing is missing that conects to it - what ? i'm not sure, as my French isn't that good.
